Don't bother for new players. Great for experienced players
By Matthew on Reviewed in the United States on June 29, 2014
I bought several balls for my Rec league all male ~25 year old team. Wal-mart brand = horrible. Feels like a rock. I have thrown this one away. This was the first one I bought, and led me to find others. Random other ball = fine, but not completely spherical This ball (Tachikara sv5w....) Tachikara No Sting - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001TPNDEU/ref=oh_details_o09_s01_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The 'No Sting' one was $15, and everyone I played with preferred it. ( I didn't tell them it was essentially made for 12 yr old girls) As for an actual review of this one I can't provide much of a review because we always play with the other... Which everyone prefers. ________________________________________________________________________________________ 2 year review: July 2016 I'm changing this from a 4 to a 5 star review. Since my previous review I've been actively playing quite a bit of volleyball and I have some more insight. I do still support my claim that if you have completely new players, then this ball is not needed. If you're just wanting something physically to hit with new players, potentially outside, find something else, don't bother spending the extra money. Don't bring that other ball I recommended to pick up with people who know what they are doing though... If you want to play an actual game, this is a really great ball which is respected by a lot of actual players. As a setter I actually prefer the Molten 'Flistatec' ball these days. The molten has a lot more grip initially. The Tachikara kinda has to be broken in whereas the Molten starts in its prime and quickly degrades. So the Tachikara probably has more longevity for its 'peak' playing, but really it's just preference. If you've really never seen either of these two balls before, find where they do indoor pick-up around you, and likely you will find both balls so you can try them out before you buy. https://www.amazon.com/Molten-FLISTATEC-Volleyball-Official-White/dp/B0063NDCGW/ref=cm_cr-mr-title

Does not hold air / rattles inside
By CT on Reviewed in the United States on September 21, 2018
Do NOT purchase this ball if you want to have issues with warranty. I have played volleyball for 25 years and this is usually by far the best indoor ball I have ever played with. However, over the last year or two, I know several people who have purchased this ball and have had many problems with it. When purchased at a local store, they generally don't have a problem replacing the ball for you. When purchasing online however, I have had nothing but problems. I bought 3 balls because I had a few friends who wanted one as well. They were quite a bit cheaper than they were in store, so Amazon seemed like the smartest choice: Ball #1 - does not hold any air. In fact, the air pressure monitor showed a steady decrease in pressure, even while trying to inflate it. Got zero use from this ball as it could be bumped a couple times before it became "flat" Ball #2 - after being inflated the first time, the ball immediately felt odd. I shook the ball and it had a "rattle" in it. Deflated and re-inflated a few more times and it continued to rattle. Got zero use from this ball too. Ball #3 - holds air long enough for one game, then has to be re-inflated between each game. Really annoying. The warranty says that the ball is covered under warranty for 2 years from the date of purchase. So I contacted Tachikara less than 6 months after purchasing, who proceeded to tell me that it was past the warranty period. I then contacted Amazon and was told that it was outside of their return period. The best they were willing to do was let me return the balls for a small refund, about half of what I actually paid for the balls. Plus I'd have to pay for return shipping. None of which would even be worth it. Now I'm stuck with 3 defective balls. Not a happy customer!
