Just Ride

Don't be intimidated by racing cyclists. They're doofuses.

Buying a new bike can be an intimidating process. You see those road bikers around town, clad in spandex, clicking those weird shoes into those weird pedals, and dropping down on their impossibly low handlebars. Is that REAL biking. Are you a doofus if you don't look like that?

No. In fact, it is those folks who are the doofuses. Dressing in padded shorts and riding a multi-thousand dollar carbon fiber bike to work is the equivalent of taking a NASCAR grocery shopping. To wit: Overkill.

This Diamondback mountain/commuter bike is a much, much more sensible option for cyclists of any stripe. It's got wide, somewhat-knobby tires that ensure you won't go flying the second you hit a patch of wet leaves, comfortably wide handlebars for precise handling on the trail or in the city, and front suspension for a smooth ride.

So while the doofuses spend half an hour donning their cycling apparel, you'll have already hit the streets or single-track. And if you're interested in the idea that biking should be fun, not a competition, you should check out this book. Now go ride!

What are Top Comments?

Top Comments are discussion forum posts we have deemed worthy of your time. Listen, we get a lot of comments, and most of the time, it's pretty forgettable stuff; but sometimes you rise to the top like butterfat in milk. We don't recommend you base your self-worth on how often we feature your comments, but we don't expressly forbid it either.
