Quality, solid, and more feminine and stylish than other bags

This bag is a very good quality. The fabric is smooth, the seams are well-sewn and everything seems to be holding up well. I got it thinking I would use it, but it's a little more feminine than my wife thought I should walk around with. So, she gave it to my sister, who really likes it, and uses it regularly to travel between home and client sites for her consulting business. The main area is large, deceptively large, and the laptop section fits a full-size laptop, so my tiny 13" MacBook Air swims in there. The padding isn't really thick, but if you're not defending yourself with it, or dropping it roughly (like my kids do with everything), then it should defend your device well enough. One thing I found odd is the dual elastic-topped pockets at the ends. I'm not sure why two (maybe one for stainless coffee cup, and the other for your water bottle?) but they seem to hold bottles pretty well as long as it's not super-tall. The strap is wide and comfortable, though a little bit slippery (I have a smooth puffy jacket) so I think it works best when slung all the way across to the other shoulder. Other than that, it's a simple, attractive, well-made laptop satchel that doesn't scream "college professor!" For the price, it's a solid option that should last for a very long time. I think you could probably wash it on gently cycle and it would come out okay if you got it dirty.

Such a bummer - I had high hopes.

This is a simple gray laptop messenger bag. My previous favorite brand, Timbuk2, has been migrating away from making laptop messengers in favor of backpacks, so I've been in the market to switch - unfortunately, while I had a good impression of Baggallini prior to trying this, I think this specific bag is a miss. For one, the outward appearance doesn't inspire much of a premium feeling. My partner took one look at it when we unpacked it and said "that's a diaper bag", and they're not wrong: the flat gray washable fabric looks intended to be hosed off when dirty and doesn't have a lot of style value. While I like the adjustability of the strap, I dislike that it's missing a strap keeper to keep it from digging into my shoulders. The strap also feels narrower and less sturdy than the Timbuk2 bags I'm used to carrying. The construction in general of this bag feels more budget than premium all throughout. Places I would have expected binding or double-stitching are just single stitched, and some of the edges aren't neatly finished - there are weird angled areas around the corners of the lid, for example, and while they might be intentional chamfers they are imprecise and come off as just looking like a poorly cut piece of material. Finally, I really miss the Napoleon pocket and other thoughtful hidden storage areas that my previous bag had. I'll keep looking for my perfect urban messenger - unfortunately, this one isn't really it. The size and capacity are perfect for me, but the construction and details aren't quite up to standards for everyday road warrior use.
