Decent headphones, weird speaker
By Amy See on Reviewed in the United States on April 14, 2023
I ordered this for the headphones, the waterbottle/speaker is just a bonus I guess. I really do not understad the concept or figure out why anyone would want to combine those. Maybe someone drawn to that part of this set will shed light on its appeal. The headphones are for my husband. He was due for some new ones after his current ones started to fall apart. He is a big man with a giant head and, alghough he can fit each ear piece at the same time, he wishes the cord was just a little longer. Maybe another half inch or so. I myself have an average sized head and these would not be a problem for me. The sound quality of the headphones is decent. These will be used mostly for podcasts. For music these are fine, but don't expect high quality sound. For phone calls the sound is great on both ends. I could not hear a difference in the sound quality on the headphones compared to the handset. The only thing I have to note about calls is background noise is not muted, so us these in a quiet space when talking to someone. Overall I am very happy with these headphones.

Cheap novelty speakers can sound pretty good nowadays, but not this Aiwa...

THE GOOD: --------------- * The Aiwa brand-name is nostalgic. * This 400ml bottle is equivalent to 13.5 ounces, a soda can is 12 ounces. * Built in speakers, but headphones are also provided. * 8 hours playtime when fully charged. * Bluetooth, as well as micro sd card slot. * All controls are at the bottom. * Price makes this a unique gift item. THE BAD: ------------- * Antiquated micro-usb charging port. USB-C would be better. * Very high on treble, with virtually no bass. I collect novelty speakers, such as the kinds that are designed to look like retro radios from the past, and I don't expect a lot from them. I think they are best used for Christmas and oldies, but a lot of times, these vintage radios would surprise me with a very rich sound. I'm sad to report, there was no such surprise from this Aiwa. That's a bummer, since this is Aiwa, a company that specialized in stereos once upon a time. How good can a water bottle sound? Whatever low expectations you have, it'll be the correct expectations. Watch my video, which is for a light blue version, but it's the same product. I grabbed a few of these as stocking stuffers. I'll go 3-Stars overall.
