Outdoor Must Have!
By Christopher J. Loughlin on Reviewed in the United States on June 14, 2024
**Quick and Easy Setup**: The standout feature of the Skylodge is its instant setup capability. Within minutes, I had the entire structure up and ready. The intuitive design and pre-attached poles make assembly a breeze, even for those who might be new to camping. It's a huge time-saver, allowing you to focus more on enjoying your trip rather than wrestling with tent poles and complicated instructions.**Spacious and Comfortable**: The Skylodge offers ample space, making it perfect for family outings or group camping trips. The screened canopy provides a generous, bug-free living area where you can relax, dine, or play games without worrying about pesky insects. The ceiling height is impressive, allowing even tall campers to move around comfortably without feeling cramped.**Sturdy and Durable**: Coleman has always been synonymous with quality, and the Skylodge is no exception. The tent is constructed from high-quality materials that withstand various weather conditions. During a recent trip, we encountered strong winds and a bit of rain, but the Skylodge stood firm and kept us dry and secure.**Ventilation and Light**: The tent's design ensures excellent ventilation, which is crucial for a comfortable camping experience. The large windows and mesh walls allow for plenty of airflow, preventing the tent from becoming stuffy. Additionally, the skylight feature is fantastic, letting in natural light during the day and offering a view of the stars at night.**Thoughtful Features**: Coleman has included several thoughtful features that enhance the overall camping experience. The storage pockets are handy for keeping small items organized, and the built-in screen room is a game-changer for those who want to enjoy the outdoors without the hassle of bugs. The tent's aesthetic is also pleasing, blending well with natural surroundings.**Portability**: Despite its size, the Skylodge is surprisingly portable. It comes with a convenient carrying bag that makes transportation easy. Whether you're heading to a campsite or setting it up in your backyard, you'll find it manageable and stress-free to carry and store.**Value for Money**: Considering the quality, features, and convenience, the Coleman Skylodge Screened Canopy Tent offers excellent value for money. It's an investment that promises numerous enjoyable camping experiences for years to come. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to enhance their camping experience with a touch of convenience and luxury.

High quality but not very useful
By Frank Hays on Reviewed in the United States on August 12, 2014
If I had just set this up in my back yard to check it out, I would have rated it five stars. It goes up super easily, has nice metal poles and seems to be high quality in construction overall. Unfortunately, in practice it has turned out to be of very limited usefulness for me and I think it will be to many others as well. For starters, while this covers a 10x10 area--plenty for most picnic tables by the way--it's roof is much smaller than that. This is OK if you are using this only for shelter from insects but for shade/rain protection, it severely limits its effectiveness. Only a small area is protected from even the lightest drizzle and if there is any wind at all, it does not help even a small bit. On a perfectly still day, w/ a light drizzle, maybe two or three people in chairs can stay relatively dry w/ no table between them. It is not really sold as a rain shelter so I guess that is OK but also the small size roof limits shade and given that this thing is marketed as providing sun protection, that to me is a pretty severe defect. As a bug shelter it works OK but even then the skirt around the bottom is not quite long enough to compensate for uneven ground so it still lets bugs in around the edges. It is definitely better than nothing but still, another four inches of fabric and perhaps a few points to stake it to the ground and it would be a lot better.Another small gripe I have is that for the size of it, it is relatively long when packed up, which can make it hard to pack in some smaller cars (I had trouble getting it into the trunk of my PT Cruiser for what it's worth). The upside of this is the fact that the poles do not collapse into so many sections is what makes it so easy to set up but I thought that this limitation was worth mentioning. So in short, I think this shelter is a near miss. It is well built, it works OK as a bug shelter but seems to need some redesign to shelter you from anything else.
