Great Compact Stepper for Full-Body Workouts at Home
By Fred Giaconia on Reviewed in the United States on April 4, 2025
I recently purchased the Sunny Health & Fitness Mini Stepper (SF-S0978) for home workouts, and after using it for a few weeks, I’m thoroughly impressed with its performance, quality, and overall value. Here’s a comprehensive review of my experience with this stepper: Design & Build Quality The stepper is constructed with a sturdy alloy steel frame that feels solid and durable. The grey color is sleek and modern, making it a great addition to any home gym setup without standing out too much. The build is compact, measuring 16.3"L x 12.8"W x 13.6"H, and weighs only about 16.2 pounds, which makes it relatively easy to move and store. It also features a stabilizing ring foundation, which provides excellent balance and stability, especially when using it at higher intensities. The non-slip oversized foot pedals are a standout feature—they are textured for a strong grip, which provides extra security during use. Even when I’m stepping quickly or at a higher intensity, I never feel like I’m going to slip off. The pedals are also large enough to accommodate different foot sizes comfortably. Performance & Resistance This mini stepper is powered by dual hydraulic cylinders, which offer smooth and consistent resistance. The stepping motion is up and down, mimicking the action of climbing stairs. The hydraulic system provides just the right amount of resistance to get my heart rate up while still being gentle on the knees. The adjustable step height allows you to tailor the intensity of your workout to suit your needs. Whether you prefer a gentle step or a more intense workout with steep climbs, the stepper provides the flexibility to adjust accordingly. The resistance bands are a fantastic bonus. These foam-padded bands allow you to add an upper body workout to your routine, engaging your biceps, triceps, shoulders, and core as you step. The resistance bands are removable, so you can use them whenever you want a more comprehensive workout or leave them off if you prefer to focus solely on the legs. Digital Monitor The digital monitor is very user-friendly and provides essential workout metrics, including: Time spent on the machine Calories burned Step count and steps per minute (SPM) Total step count Scan mode (rotates through the above metrics) The monitor is easy to read, and I love that it allows me to track my progress in real-time, motivating me to push myself harder as I see the time and calories burned accumulate. Ease of Use & Assembly The stepper is about 90% pre-assembled, which makes setup incredibly easy. I only had to attach the resistance bands before I was ready to start my workout. The process took me just a few minutes, and I was good to go. This is a huge plus, as it means I didn’t have to spend hours assembling a complicated machine. The operation is smooth and quiet. I’ve used other steppers that make a lot of noise, but this one operates almost silently, which is great for home use, especially if you’re exercising early in the morning or late at night when others are still asleep. Workout Experience The stepper gives me an excellent full-body workout in a compact machine. The lower body workout targets the glutes, quads, hamstrings, and calves, while the resistance bands help tone the upper body—specifically the arms, shoulders, and core. It’s a great machine for anyone looking to incorporate both cardio and strength training in a single session. The adjustable height and resistance settings also make it suitable for all fitness levels, from beginners to more advanced users. The smooth stepping motion combined with the hydraulic resistance makes it easy to perform low-impact exercises that are easy on the joints, while still providing an intense workout. I’ve found that even a 15-minute session on the stepper leaves me feeling like I’ve had a solid workout, making it perfect for busy individuals who want to squeeze in a quick session. Optional SunnyFit App Connection One feature I haven’t fully explored yet is the SunnyFit app connection, which allows you to track your workouts through the app. The app offers access to on-demand workout videos, and you can sync it with the stepper for a more interactive experience. I think this would be especially useful if you're someone who enjoys following workout routines or tracking your progress digitally. Safety Features The non-slip pedals and the stabilizing ring ensure that I always feel secure while using the machine. I don’t have to worry about it tipping over or feeling unsteady, even when stepping at a high intensity. The maximum weight capacity of 220 lbs is ideal for most users, and I find the machine to be both safe and reliable. Pros: Compact and sturdy design—perfect for home use Smooth, quiet hydraulic resistance for low-impact cardio Adjustable step height and resistance bands for a customizable workout Easy assembly and operation Digital monitor tracks essential metrics like time, calories, steps, and more Non-slip pedals ensure safety and stability SunnyFit app connection adds extra workout resources (optional) Cons: Limited step height range—while it’s adjustable, some users may desire a higher step for a more intense climb. Small footprint—while perfect for small spaces, taller users might feel limited in stride length or stepping motion. Final Thoughts: Overall, the Sunny Health & Fitness Mini Stepper with Resistance Bands (SF-S0978) has been an incredible addition to my home fitness routine. It provides a full-body workout in a compact, efficient design that doesn’t take up much space. It’s perfect for anyone looking to get a solid cardio workout while also toning the upper body. The smooth and quiet operation, combined with the adjustable resistance and height, ensures a customized workout experience. Whether you're just starting your fitness journey or are already at an advanced level, this stepper can meet your needs. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants an affordable and effective workout machine for home use!

Okay purchase
By Amazon Customer on Reviewed in the United States on June 25, 2025
It comes as the photo shows on which is great. Timer is pretty standard no high tech features or anything. Only downside is it came broken so I really should’ve returned it, but I just “hammered” the piece in and kept it moving (who likes to wait on reshipping returns etc. after already waiting) . It’s no longer aesthetically pleasing since one side is obviously broken and I have to be super careful when moving or storing it so that the broken side doesn’t come out again. I’m holding the white and pink broken pieces together in the photo - it was completely detached upon arrival. Overall, it’s an okay purchase but it shouldn’t cost as much as it does.
