Very sturdy, easy to assemble, and overall pretty decent tent

We live in Colorado and my wife has had this urge to do some snow camping. We tried once last year in our summer mesh tent and about froze to death, so we knew if we were going to do this ever again we would need a thicker canvas tent that would hold heat and protect us from the elements a little better. We chose a Teton tent because we own four of their sleeping bags which are the best sleeping bags I have ever owned, so I knew the quality would be there. I also know from past dealings that their customer service is top notch so if there was an issue with the tent we would have no issues getting them resolved. This tent has many pros, lets focus on those first. This is exactly what we were looking for in a thicker warmer tent. When our heater was actively running, this tent stayed warm. It didnt hold the heat too long after the heater was off, but it definitely stayed warm when it was on rather than escaping through the walls. So that was a definite plus. The tent amazed me at how easy it was to assemble. I read the instructions once before we went camping, and was able to assemble strictly by memory. It was so so simple. Literally like 3 poles and we were done. This tent is nice and tall, I can fully stand up inside of it without touching the ceiling. I have never had a tent where I could do that. The doors on both sides was a plus for those midnight potty runs. We experienced some crazy wind during this trip and our tent was solid and barely moved. As you can see in the pics we were in snow and no moisture got inside the tent. The floor is a very thick very strong material. The temp dropped down to 12 degrees in these pictures and we were never really uncomfortable, I call that a success. Now for a couple negatives just to be honest and transparent. This tent is heavy, like really heavy. If my wife were to go camping without me, she wouldnt be able to get it out of the car. But the heaviness is due to its quality and ability to withstand the elements, so I kind of get it. I dont mind that its heavy, but caution to any small adult who may be looking into purchasing this. The only other negative is despite it being rated for 6 people, with our four army cot beds we had little no room for anything else. So sure it will fit 6 uncomfortably laying on top of each other, or four more realistically with some wiggle room and comfort. Thats about it. As far as amazon is concerned this is a 5 star tent in my opinion. If I could rate like 9.5 out of 10 I would just for the couple negatives though. Overall this tent is amazing, well worth the money, and I can not wait to use it for years to come. Which I know I will be able to because it seems so well made and sturdy.

Not quite what I expected

Been looking at getting a canvas bell tent for a while now and finally decided to settle on the Sierra12 ft. Everybody seems to have pretty good reviews about it, so I figured what the heck. Hopefully this tent will last a little bit longer than the nylon ones. They were offering an open box so I went ahead and jumped on that to save a little bit of money. The description said open box like new. Package may be damaged. Upon receipt of the order itself, the tent wasn't like new. It looks like it had been to burning Man and back again. It arrived covered in dust, missing half the guidelines, and some other small parts. The ropes are completely frayed. There are slight tears in the canvas etc.Overall, the quality seems pretty decent. I'm pretty enamored with the PVC floor, It reminds me of the quality of some of the inflatable paddle board and definitely hold up for the test of time. However, when doing open box is an advertising like new, definitely double check it. I'm not sure if it was Teton sports or Amazon that dropped the ball on this one, but definitely don't trust their rating of open box. I will be packaging up and returning this tent most likely.I understand that open boxes are used gear, and generally that's okay, it's a tent its going to get dirty, however this is way past just slightly used and tested. This went to hell and back and they falsely advertised the condition.
