Superb Comfort & Quality! Fair Warning: Thermarest Foam Pad Area is 3” Shorter & Narrower
By Dread O'Knight on Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 2024
- Update: I decided to rate-up this mattress to 5 Stars, in spite of the ad that this mattress features winglock valves, which the LuxuryMap 'Does NOT'. But that said, after exchanging the Regular-20" pad for the 'Large-25" pad, I found the LuxuryMap to be a terrific, high quality product. After camping for several days with temps as low as 35'F at night, I want to give credit to Thermarest for making this mattress provide superb comfort and insulation each night. The air foam mattress held its 'firmness' throughout each night, too! This is a brand that I can trust to provide durability and manufacturing quality. -Original Review: There are 2 serious issues about how this product is advertised. The item description is misleading and Ad is inaccurate: - 1. The actual foam pad sleeping area is 3” lower on each side. The actual sleeping surface - i.e. the 3" foam measures only 17”w x 69”l, when the pad is fully inflated. The ‘Regular 20”s x 72”l pad is the original cut of the fabric material, when the pad is deflated. 17"inches is too narrow for me and most likely too narrow for adults w/broad shoulders. It may be ideal for backpackers who are fully zipped-up inside a sleeping bag. Otherwise, the lower arms will hang over sides, using a blanket. - 2. The LuxuryMap sleeping pads do NOT feature the new ‘WingLock Valve’, as shown in the Ad video. In fact, the LuxuryMap sleeping pads may not even be manufactured with these new valves. That said, these pads are extremely comfortable and the 3" thick sleeping pads also provide very good R ratings for cold weather camping. I have a Therm-a-Rest inflatable foam sleeping pad from the 1990s, which leaked due to an accidental knife puncture. So given their excellent brand reputation, I chose to exchange my recent purchase of 'Regular'-pad with the 'Large'-pad. And while the fabric dimensions of the 'Large'-pad are indeed 25” x 77”, the actual foam sleeping area will be 22” x 74”, which is ideal for my body size. I gave it 4 stars - deducting 1 star for the misleading original ad description on Amazon.

Ok but not worth the cost

I expected it to be a little more comfortable for the price tag. It is pretty thin. It blows up easily, but it takes more time/effort to deflate that I’d like for my purposes.
