worst bike ever
By Teanna Moye on Reviewed in the United States on November 22, 2024
purchased this bike and nothing but problems. chain kept falling off, brakes were missing pieces and the wheels were missing bolts, customer service was terrible took it to a bike shop that was suggested by the representative and it would cost more to fix the bike than what I paid for it. wasted money stay away from this model.

At 6”7 300lbs I finally found a bike that we tall Men look normal on lol. Brakes are excellent only thing I can complain about was the break levers were opposite of where they should of been. Quick swap and good to go. Make sure to go over everything and tighten, a lot of things were only hand tight.
Great bike, bad instructions

No issues with the bik, but the owner's manual is terrible. They contain generic assembly instructions in the form of, "if your bike is of this type or has this feature, assemble like this." For someone who is new to bikes, that really socks especially since it isn't readily apparent which type the bike is.
Great bike at a great price

Took awhile to get but once it arrive it was pack in it's original package. Easy to assemble . So took it for a 8 to 10 mile ride without any issues. Looking on getting handle bar extension and a different seat for better comfort.

For the most part I like the bike. Though I made a lot of changes before I even rode it. Stock bars were way to narrow. I changed out the bars, grips, riser, and headset. As well as the pedals and seat. After the first ride I was happy with it for the money I spent. A few little bugs but enough to work through it. Well now I’m 50 miles in on it. The rear wheel bearings seem to be going out as there’s a lot of play in it and can’t tighten it any more. The crank tester now made it not rideable. Either those bears are bad, though there’s no pay. Or it’s bent it’s self as it’s not hitting the frame when pedaling. Only parts I didn’t upgrade where the wheels, crank, and forks. And if I have to replace the wheels and crank I might as well replace the forks. Making it so I replaced everything but the frame. Kinda a let down considering I only ride paved river trails.

Got the bike and put it together. Rode it only on flat pavment about 50 miles per week for the last 8 months. Discovered the back wheel axle was very looose. Wrote to Mongoose support with a video attached and they said that the wheel was not under warranty. And I would have to but a new one for $75 .So every 8 or nine months I would have to buy a new wheel. $400 is worthless. Do not buyMy wife has competitors bike for 4 years and still in perfect condition apart form a little rust. I live at the beach so its expected.04/24/2024 UpdateQuick Update.Front crank with Pedal just came loose today and fell off. Bolt wont screw back into shaft.Had to walk bike 3 miles back homeVery bad parts , No serive or warranty. Going in the dumpster Waste of $550 . Never even got 2 years out of the bike . A real lemon

The pictures are only the beginning it is now popping from the crank area and I haven't even ridden it an hour I weigh 240lbs at 6'2 this bike is not worth the money at all payments not payment it does not matter it's not worth the money The heads of the bolts were laying at the bottom of the Box Now I am 40 I've been putting bikes together pretty much all my life I'm not a pro but this thing is it's something else I'll tell you that If you would happen to buy this bike take it to a professional unless you know What you are doing all the ball bearings were dry except for the rear which barely had anything in it It needs packing grease right out the Box It's a true shame this is what mongoose has become cause back in my day it was a good bike/mountain bike I am emailing mongoose right now if they choose to do nothing I'm returning it because it's just not worth the money it may be a $150 dollar bike if that It has dense chips it looks like I've owned this bike for years and I pulled it out of the Box and wrote it for not even an hour it's it is what it is I guess Just beware make sure all your bolts are tight go over every screw not bolt on this thing because they're all loose And that's the end of my rant for now thanks for your time After about 2 more 100 bucks it Is now ready to go on the trail Inspect the bike very closely it was brought to my attention that the brakes are blue Mine are not it seems to be there's little differences from the pictures and what you get You can zoom in on the front or back wheel and look at the brake caliper brake caliper very disappointed will never buy again

I got my previous Mongoose Deception at Walmart 8 years ago. It was very similar to this model, including disc brakes. But some scum stole it from my carport and I needed to replace it. That bike, though heavy weight, was great. This bike came partially assembled. I had to spend close to $100 for a tune-up at the local bike shop. This bike needed shifting correction work, and disc brake adjustments. Plus, I did the pedal installation poorly in that I stripped both putting them on. I had to call the Mfg. and get two new pedals plus the crank. Luckily, they sent them free, under warranty which was cool. AND, finally, it came with a slow leak in the rear tire out of the box. I paid maybe $150 for the other bike back in 2012. This bike's price fluctuated here on Amazon due to the gouging that went on when the pandemic started. It was not worth the $343 I had to pay. Plus, it sat at the distributor's warehouse for over 2 weeks when I was promised 2-day shipping. Overall a bad purchasing experience and not a good value. And DO NOT ASSEMBLE this on your own. Go to your local pro bike shop!
