Just a ten dollar knife
By E. Copper on Reviewed in the United States on September 3, 2020
This is definitely a ten dollar knife, but I expected that when I ordered it. The handle is ok. It looks good at arms length, but a bit rough up close. The measurements on the side are in centimeter and are accurate. The brush is synthetic. Again, I expected that at the price. I can't speak on the quality of the keychain, since I have yet to use it, but it seems adequate. The blade is really where this knife falls short. Any knife marketed as a "stainless steel" blade is not going to be high quality. The grind on the blade looks like it was done by a blind man using a rasp, and it is only marginally sharper than a butter knife. I expected to have to fix the grind and sharpen the blade to my standards, so not a big deal. What I can't fix, however, is the blade centering. The blade rubs with significant friction the entire length of one liner, while being about two millimeters away from the other liner. The blade is pinned (no pivot screw) so it can't be adjusted. In the end, it is worth about ten bucks, but not more. I am a bit of a knife snob, so I may be a little biased. If you are looking to try a purpose built mushroom knife to see if you like the form factor for a low price, go for it. That's why I bought it. If you are looking for a high quality knife, take a pass. I have always harvested mushrooms with a scalpel, and will probably continue to do so.
