Awesome redesign of the classic bottle!
By Rob on Reviewed in the United States on May 31, 2019
I've been using Camelbak Eddy bottles for at least the past 10 years. They are the perfect bottles to bring with you to work, outside, or the gym. I mainly use my bottles at the gym where I can easily carry it around and get a quick drink of water whenever I need. What I love about the Eddy bottles is that they are durable and leak-proof. I never have to worry about my bottles cracking when dropped or leaking all over my backpack, and I've dropped many of them! The new redesign of the Eddy+ bottle bring some welcome changes. First of all, the loop on the bottle is bigger. Now instead of only being able to fit one finger though the loop you can now put 3 fingers through it. Now I feel like I'm less likely to drop the bottle when carrying it around the gym.The spout also got a small redesign. Instead of the spout being convex, it is now concave. I didn't know how I felt about the change at first, but it's proven to be very useful. I feel like you can get slightly more water out of the spout and there's a handy spot for your tongue to rest (if you like putting your tongue against your water bottle?)Lastly, the top of the bottle has been slightly redesigned. There's no longer a screw under the spout like on the old bottle. I often found that grime would get caught in this screw from time to time and you'd need to manually scrub it, but it is now gone. The Eddy bottle is a challenge to clean by hand. CamelBak sells scrubbing kits just to clean their bottles. I've found that if I put the bottles, straws, and lids in the dishwasher after use, the bottles come out sparkling clean. From experience I've found that only washing the bottles by hand without using a scrubbing brush allows grime to buildup in the bottle over time no matter how often you wash the bottle. You have to be EXTRA careful to clean inside the spout, under the lid, and where the straw connects to the lid. I've found that if you ignore these places, black mold spots are guaranteed to grow after a while.Overall I love these CamelBak bottles and the new redesign is definitely a step in the right direction for me! I'll definitely buy more of these when I inevitably lose my current bottle.

Changes (negative) in the top's material and bite valve design... VERY DISAPPOINTING
By Bea Smith on Reviewed in the United States on October 27, 2020
I've bought CamelBak Eddy bottles for 10+ years and never thought I'd ever not like them. I never had a bottle break and anytime the lid began leaking or other lid issue, CamelBak always sent me a replacement top, which fixed the problem. My last Eddy got rolled around on the floor of a hospital room back in March and I didn't try to clean it or use it for a while afterwards and just got too grossed out when I did go to clean it up. So, I ordered a new Eddy through Amazon recently.CamelBak has tinkered with the Eddy for the worse and I find myself not using it much, when previously these bottles were like an additional limb for me. I'm super disappointed.ISSUE = LID(well, CamelBak product designers and the "Oh, that's a great idea!" team are the real issue, but anyway...)a) The bite valve is now concave rather than level, making it much harder to drink from- much less water flow and the valve is often partially blocking suction as I try to bring the water up through the straw.b) The valve comes off too easily now, and often does come off between my teeth as I'm trying to get the concave valve to open.c) The lid as a whole now looks and feels cheap- dull black, shorter, and has a low-quality texture. Overall, it's like something you'd for at Dollar Tree (I like Dollar Tree, but it's not where I want my bottles from).d) The open tab area that comes up from the lid is now at a lower angel and does not go out as far from the lid. That means you don't have as much room for your fingers or hook pegs or whatever you might try to pass through the opening. I used to hold these bottles by the tab area when walking with it, but it's now no longer comfortable to do so.a,b,c,d!) WORST OF ALL,... it seems these changes were made for the benefit of CamelBak, not us (or something went wrong between the design plan and the implementation of it). Their website is touting the top as being interchangeable with its other bottles and hot liquid containers. That doesn't matter to me at all, why would it?? Each vessel comes with a top and so I wouldn't need an interchangeable one. If the top to one crapped out, I'd use the lifetime warranty and ask for a new top for that vessel... like I've always done. If I ruined the top, I'd buy a new top or new bottle, not switch a top between two vessels for ever more.Summary: BAD MOVE/ BAD DESIGN, CamelBak.I guess I should be glad that CamelBak didn't "improve" the bottle itself. Thankfully, it still seems to be the same. Here's hoping CamelBak RE-UNIMPROVES the Eddy lid!!
