Work great.

These cleats do exactly what they're supposed to do. They give you fantastic grip on ice. If you're a mountain climber they will give you extra traction on rough rocky terrain. They fit perfectly over top my extra large Timberland PRO boots size 15 wide. They're very easy to slip on and off. During the past snow storm I use these so I could walk confidently on ice and snowy surfaces without worrying about slipping and falling. I was also using a cleat fitted to the bottom of my walking cane. The combination of the two gave me complete confidence to walk among the ice and snow without worrying about slipping and losing my balance. They are only meant to be worn outside on rough surfaces. Do not try and wear them where surfaces may be smooth. They will slip and slide on smooth surfaces, such as hard smooth tile surfaces. They can also tear up a wooden floor. I suggest you put them on right before you need to use them to go outside, or keep them on an extra pair of boots and swap out when you get outside to where you need to go. They could probably puncture holes in your carpeting as well. They are very tough. They take a little bit of time getting used to walking with them. After a while you don't even know you have them on. They have a very specific purpose. You can't just leave them on all the time.

Broke first use

I was hiking to Copperas Falls. Hike out was fine. Crampons worked as they should. However, with about a mile to finish, the metal connector holding the crampons to the rubber came loose. One of the spikes caught the bottom of my pants leg, other crampon or something and caused me to fall face first into a slightly thawing creek. They had my feet tangled. It made it hard to get up. When I got up, I had to hop to the other side. There is no value here if you are concerned with your safety. I hike to too many cliffs edges for these. They did fit my shoes. Durability is not there unless you want to rewire them before you use them. The little connectors I mentioned before are just not strong enough. I'm 5'9" and 175 pounds. If you must buy these keep a multi tool and some heavy wire for repairs in your kit. Keep an eye on those connectors and replace them if they start showing a gap or you could wind up in a bad situation with these. I wish I would have spent the extra money on the Kahtoolas. Update: The seller contacted me about my issue with their product. They offered a full refund or another pair. They claimed their defective product rate was .02%. (I hadn't planned on contacting them. I was just going to wire them back up like everyone else has done.) I decided to accept another pair. I will use them with the caveat that I check them every time before I think I might need them and keep a piece of wire and small linemans pliers in my kit. I raised my review to 3 stars due to the stellar customer service. I have had no further issues with the crampons.
