Great addition to a starter home gym
By Regina on Reviewed in the United States on August 22, 2019
I am taking my first steps in building a home gym and I've begun participating in some fitness challenges involving weight lifting and pull-ups. Initially, I was going to get something cheaper (around the $100.00 range). But after seeing this one and considering it, I decided to spend the extra money. I'm really glad I did. The size is perfect for a basement workout space without tall ceilings.Delivery: I received this within 5 days of ordering. It was packaged well, all parts included and no product damage.Assembly: I assembled this by myself and I think it took about 2 - 2.5 hours (I had to stop and feed the dog and didn't really time assembly specifically). The directions are clear enough, especially when coupled with the manufacturer's online video. My knowledge of tools is very basic. I can pretty much figure out how to use something, but it takes me a little while and I don't really know the names. I finally realized that I needed to use both tools (wrenches? sockets?) for tightening the bolts at one time. One to hold the bolt still and the other to tighten the nut.My second mistake was in putting on the pull-up bars. I put the smaller one one first and was initially only going to use that one. After putting it on, and tightening up all bolts, I decided to put on the larger one for band use and a TRX anchor. It was impossible to get it on! I got it wedged in, but the yellow arms were so solid and tight, I couldn't get it to line up with the wholes and the ends of it stuck out awkardly. At this point I couldn't do anything with it but let it stay wedged were it was (I even tried to use oil as a lubricant). I then remembered another review that said to install the pull-up bars before tightening everything. Duh. I then also realized that I didn't install the black plates on the outside of the yellow arms for the smaller pull up bar. I didn't want to risk a poor assembly job for safety's sake. I decided to take off the smaller pull up bar to put on all 4 plates for it and this allowed me to install the larger pull up bar!Size: I think the size is great and fits neatly into its designated space. The dip handles are a little narrow but it works for me.Look: impressive! I have a real piece of home gym equipment!Use: I used it for the first time this morning for deadlifts and jumping pull ups. I felt safe and secure for all of my movements. No rocking on the jumping pull ups.Note: I have a cheapy barbell set that I brought from a now closed chain fitness store. The wholes in the plates are too small to fit on the plate holders at the back of the rack. And, my bar is really too short. I can't push the plate all the way on and get the bar to fit on the rack. I can live with it as soon I'll have to buy more plates for heavier lifting. If you're looking for a moderately priced rack, I recommend this one.

You get what you pay for
By James Kim on Reviewed in the United States on January 11, 2021
This is one of the cheaper power racks you can find on the market, so not surprisingly, it's far from perfect. But for basic powerlifting, it gets the job done.Pros:- So far has handled a 305 lb barbell without a problem; rocks a little when re-racking a heavy bar, but that may be due to my concrete floor being uneven.- Easy to assemble; all the screws and nuts are the same size, and the instructions are straightforward.- Weight holders in the back are a nice touch and add stability (I keep two 45 lb plates on each side).- The yellow color looks surprisingly good.Cons:- Holes for the J-hooks and safety bars are 4" apart rather than the usual 2" which can result in awkward placement (e.g. for bench pressing, the bar is a little low for me but the next holes up are too high).- One of the J-hooks was welded so poorly that it didn't fit the rack at all, and the manufacturer said they'd take 4-6 weeks to send a new one. As a workaround, I had Amazon send me an entire new rack from which I swapped a functioning J-hook, then had them pick it back up. So much hassle for such a small part.- Safety bars are welded at a slight angle, such that the barbell rolls to the end when resting on them.- Safety bars are shorter than I'm used to. I think they're long enough to do the job, but when I'm squatting, I'm in constant fear that the barbell will miss the safety bars if I fail.- Pull-up bars are too low for anyone on the taller side to do pull-ups comfortably (I'm 6'1").- Dip bars, even at the widest setting, are too narrow to do dips comfortable. You'll need to buy dip attachments that attach to the main rack (or just buy the power cage version of this rack, which comes with them).
