6 Stars out of 5

I bought a 150 dollar mat when first building my golf simulator, I thought it was great, 4x5, had a rough section and smooth one... what a smart guy I am... until about 2 months, the grass was ripped right through and the rubber exposed, it was falling apart, unusable. Not only that but it CONSTANTLY slipped/moved around when swinging, despite using a non-slip insert underneath it. I'm not going that route again, let's use a brand we know is respected and built to last. Found out Fiberbuilt is a top-tier brand with products I can't afford. However, I came across this practice station and I'm absolutely in love. It's never moved once, no slippage, the fibers are tough and feel good even through fat shots, no pain in my wrists/arms/hands. Somehow, my launch monitor seems to be working even more accurately with this mat (Rapsodo MLM2Pro). I only have one complaint and it is not that big of a deal, the tee included is a little annoying as even when it's all the way down, the tee sticks up enough to interfere with flat shots. So, I decided to use rubber stand-alone tees with an elastic band and weight instead of the built-in tee (K2 brand). That being said, if I'm just practicing drives, I'll put their tee back in and use it because it's sooooo nice and adjustable. The assembly is doable by a 7 year old, it's 6 pieces that interlock beautifully. It is heavy and solid and i even hit off it barefoot sometimes. The fact that the hitting turf is modular and replaceable makes this hitting mat the best possible thing I could imagine for my setup. I really would give it 6 stars out of 5.

Good Product, but probably overpriced, and the "300,000 shot guarantee" is false advertising

This is mostly a well-made product. The rubber is very thick and stable. The hip alignment slots are a very nice touch, and the turf has an excellent soft feel to it. However, as others have noted, it's not level. The ball sits higher than the feet. Others have said it's 3/8", but my measurements with my laser leveler put it closer to 1". Since I tend to miss thin and not fat, this was especially concerning to me. I will say though that this hasn't seemed to hurt my game when I go to the course: I just just as many thin shots as I used to. Still, it'd be nice if it were level as is claimed in the promo video. I know this would either increase manufacturing costs (a thicker rubber platform to stand on) or decrease durability quality (a thinner turf area), but for $500 this shouldn't be too much to ask. Also, the turf, although great, does wear out over time in that it develops little "divots". It still "works", but it's become harder to rest the ball towards the middle of the mat without it rolling towards one side, something important since the product's many good alignment devices require the ball to be centered to use it effectively. Sometimes I turn the turf around to even out the "damage", but then another divot develops in that spot eventually. This wouldn't be a major problem -- I'd expect some wear and tear, and a replacement turf is available on Amazon for $62 -- except that the site advertises a "300,000 shot guarantee". I'd estimate I've probably taken about 5k shots with it, maybe 10k max, but nowhere near 300k. I asked the company for a replacement. They did respond immediately and gave me a discounted replacement for $45 (it is $100 on their site, but only $62 on Amazon for some reason). This is appreciated, but after repeatedly asking what the guarantee referred to, the response was: "Our testing with a robotic swing machine in ideal conditions resulted in at least 300,000 hits without any significant wear over the Fiberbuilt Grass hitting surface. Some swings may result in fewer hits before wear is noticeable." Since I have a shallow swing, tend to hit thin, don't have significant clubhead speed, and only took 5,000 shots, I don't think I'd qualify as having a particularly destructive swing. Again, this is not a manufacturing defect; it's normal wear and tear and I wouldn't be a problem...But just don't guarantee 300,000 shots if you're not going to honor it; that's false advertising. I do appreciate the responsiveness and the discounted replacement though.
