suprising (updated 2024)
By sillyghillie on Reviewed in the United States on September 8, 2018
I saw the 4k claim and laughed. I know it hasn't been out that long so I looked around for reviews and saw a couple of canned, sponsored reviews on Youtube that didn't seem objective. (Nikon had hands in pockets?)my first impression was that the unit was very lightweight, but not cheap feeling. the sight picture is okay- the eye piece is hard to adjust at first. within minutes of receiving the package, I slapped in the included battery and started playing around. the unit reads range lightening fast.I took the 4k to work to range some of the distant topography. this is where I start to laugh in disbelief. I had already ranged these targets with areal photography so I had a distinct idea of where things should be. I managed to get a sand rock formation to range at 1740 yards, a highway rail guard at 1370, a stack of tires at 890. it is picky when trying to range concrete structures, but after about a dozen times- it finally spit out a number. (the sun was shining on it, it finally read after some clouds passed) today is relatively sunny, the sun was about 30 degrees above the west horizon while I ranged targets to the east. (sun to my back)this is only my initial analysis. based purely on performance I am astonished. as far as durability and reliability... we have yet to see about that. I will update after I take this unit out for some ELR.note: it does not have the stabilizing feature, it does not calculate ballistics (I didn't want it to)10/30/2024She is still kicking and working just as it did the day it was new. they have a new model out now with an inclinometer which is using the same hardware as this one. As far as i know this one isnt sold anymore? anyway for what it is worth, here is the update.

Not any good for shooting steel past 680 meters.
By DanielTN on Reviewed in the United States on September 24, 2018
took this unit out to a 3 day unknown distance silhouette shoot to try out, but it couldn't pick them up past around 682 meter. Within that range it worked great but we were shooting out to 1092 meters. fortunately my spotter had his Loe range finder. Not saying that this is a bad unit but if it's rated for deer @ 1500 yards it should be able to pick up a 100ft pine tree at 1200... I was the only one out there using Nikon and no one else had any trouble out of there Loe's or Kilo's.
