I think it really helped me

I get some sort of pinched nerve in my lower back every so often. This time the pain lasted for over a month, I couldn't workout and I am still stiff and recovering. This contraption is what really turned the corner for me. It allowed me to start bending down w/o very much pain. I have glaucoma so the inversion table wasn't recommended due to eye pressure. So glad I found this. I tried just the machine at first but it pulled on my knees too much, they felt funny for days after. I was going to buy that inversion belt but it seemed like sooo much money and maybe overkill, I mean you're not using it to hang upside down, so I got the dip belt recommended in J. Sorrentino review and some ratchet straps and that worked great. You have to pull the belt uncomfortably tight but I'm fine with it. I only do it for like 10 minutes a day and it feels like it had helped decompress whatever was pinched/out of place. Definitely go it the doctor first though, you dont want to mess with your back depending whats wrong. I had xrays done first that didnt show anything and have been to physical therapy in the past. They were gonna try traction on it but never had the chance. I am a kickboxing athlete so I already have strong core/back etc. so physical therapy didn't do much in addition to what I already do but this did help.

Torture chamber

Purchased (2, one for me, one for my brother) to unload a compressed disc in my lower back. Tried lying on my back as instructed, but that did not work. It felt as if the board was putting me into a bind and was very uncomfortable. I rolled over (face down), and was able to tolerate the board somewhat. The cushions on the ankles and underneath the armpits are minimal, so within a few minutes of being stretched, your feet and arms will go numb. If it would numb my back there might be some benefit, but unfortunately, that's not the case. This stretcher just hurts.

As a retail purchaser this is what you need to know

The product is GREAT. Does exactly what it says it does. It goes together quickly and easily and is priced very competitively. So why only 4 stars? When you are using the product, it stretches the back as gently or as strongly as you dial in. What happens is as it stretches the back, it flattens the back/lumbar area also. So, if purchasing this item, which I HIGHLY recommend, also purchase an inexpensive inflatable lumbar pillow that will maintain a lumbar curve and support while your back is being stretched.
Saved me a ton on doctor visits.

Bad lower back? Spend this $$ to save a lot. A week of nightly stretches and my back felt great again. Now, when I do something stupid and my lower back aches... I just do a couple of evenings on this thing and I'm all better.

Good price, seems to help,I have to roll a tower or put a cushion in between the board and my back, what I don't like is not enough padding so I put an extra pad then the comfort level is better for me it doesn't feel like I am laying on a hard board. thank you
No slow release. It slams back to its original position.

It works great, BUT.... there is no slow release. You can slowly crank it up and it does seperate the vertebrae . It gives great relief but when you release it. It literally slams back. That does not help at all. ! ! No way to dlowly release it.

This bench has helped me tremendously in just the few days i've had it. i'm 44 and suffer from degenerative disc disease and have been fighting back pain off and on for the past 1.5 years. After reading nearly every review i decided to try it along with the recommended dip belt (search for "Iron Bull Strength Advanced Dip Belt") and this makes using the bench so much more pleasant as it doesn't put any strain on your ankles or knees and allows you to stretch with your knees bent and your back is flatter on the board. The board is very stiff but it doesn't bother me to lay on it for 10 minutes or so. At $44 per visit to the chiropractor once a week, this thing will pay for itself in no time.

not a comfortable machine to use. as an investment for a healthy back probably better of using a decline bench in the gym w a plate on the chest to decompress
Short and petite people only.

Terrible quality. Height adjustment frequently jams. Back board is very narrow. Position of the lever is very awkward for self adjusting. Braces for arms are very narrow and short, extremely uncomfortable for anyone over 5'8". This design is for small and petite people. Buyer beware.
