Ninja Turtle Bag of Awesomeness

Ummmm....wow? I’ll be honest, I wasn’t expecting this level of quality from a product with the term “basic” in the name. I just got it so below is my initial impressions and I will update as I use it.1) This thing is HUGE. Like ninja turtle shell on your back huge. With a compression bag, you could easily pack for a 3-5 day trip in this bag.2) Everything from the fabric, to the zippers, to the stitching seems super high quality. Like....better than my North Face that I’ve used for 10 years good.3) How many pockets do you need? With this backpack, you’ve got about 1000 choices. Seriously. So. Many. Pockets.4) The sleeve thing that you slide over your suitcase handle is nice and thick. Honestly, that’s the reason I bought this since my North Face didn’t have one. Also, the gel padding is cushy. Once I’ve weighed it down with all my crap, I’ll update y’all on how comfy it is to wear. I was also surprised that is came with an additional strap (with padding) so you can carry the backpack messenger-bag style.5) I got the pink color and it’s beautiful. 😍 I plan on getting patches when I travel and sewing them on the outer layer.My only (minor) grip is the “Amazon Basics” logo on the bottom right corner is incredibly well attached. I thought it was embroidered so I’d planned on pulling out the stitching, but it’s actually rubber that’s like....ingrained in the fabric? So since I can’t remove it, the first patch I get will go there. 😎

Great in many ways... with a few big problems (for me).

Everything you read about this bag is true. The materials and workmanship seem top notch. I also love all the organization options for peripherals. It's a nice size too.Here are my two big problems.1. Most of the sturdy, heavy, metal zippers close to the same location. This makes for a lot of dangling metal zipper tabs clustered into the same space... so when I walk they jingle and jangle like crazy. Maybe it's my gate.... so maybe your mileage will vary. But this was a show stopper for me.2. There are technically two pockets you can slide your laptop into. The main laptop pocket is HUGE (probably 2 inches deep) and has a really nice bottom cushion. I would love this if I was sporting a giant, thick, 17" laptop. But I'm not... I have a 13 inch MacBook Pro... and so I find the main laptop pocket WAY too big for my laptop. Granted, there is another pocket, with a much snugger sleeve, I could use. But of course, this one doesn't have the generous bottom padding, and it's where I had intended to keeps files and papers.So I'm personally sending it back. Which makes me sad because this bag does check a lot of boxes, appears to be well made, and has overall good features.
