So far, very good

August 11, 2019: this is my initial review the date the bag was received. Appearance: I like the look of the bag and it seems true to the color that appeared on the website. The design which has front zipper pocket accessibility for a number of items is also to my liking. Durability: The bag feels very sturdy in terms of the material used in construction. The clasps used for the compression straps and the chest strap are made of hard plastic. Only time will tell if they last, however, they appear comparable to the plastic claspsthat I’ve encountered on past backpacks all of which have held up over time. The straps seem well secured but I imagine that depending upon the weight and the stress that they might give over time. Capacity: The inside compartment appeared fairly narrow. I wanted to see how much the bag would hold without using compression packing bags. I was surprised to find that I was able to pack 11 sweatshirts and two pair of sweatpants. These were thick athletic brand sweatshirts and sweatshirts made of your typical polycotton blend. There was actually more room so I could have been closed additional garments. Above you can see images of the bag when packed with the aforementioned items of clothing. I was also able to enclose my 15 inch MacBook Pro and my iPad and iPad mini. Based on the fact that I never travel with that much clothing or my MacBook I am confident that this bag will serve my purpose as well for weekend trips and short stays. Comfort: There is a nice amount of padding which would appear to provide comfort when wearing the backpack on one’s back. I appreciate the fact that this bag unlike some of its competitors is designed to slide over the handle of a rolling suitcase. There is an external side pocket which when unzipped can hold a water bottle. My 17 ounce s’well bottle fit nicely in that pocket. I look forward to seeing how this bag fares on its first journey l

Fits under airplane seats!! but too many zippers, minuscule H20 pocket
By Sophie on Reviewed in the United States on August 20, 2019
THINGS I LIKE 1) It fits under airplane seats. That's probably the most important thing. I should specify that the 5 flights I've taken it on were all United Airlines. As I remember, Delta has much less underseat/leg room, so I'm not sure it would fit under a Delta seat. 2) I really like the bright orange lining. It makes it much easier to spot items than if it were black or navy. And the lining is a very lightweight fabric. I'm not sure how well it will hold up over time, but since I use packing cubes and I don't usually overpack, I'm thinking that is less stress on the lining. 3) The backpack straps are quite comfy 4) The part against my back was also very comfy, and there's an air channel to the design, which helps prevent one's back from becoming a sweaty mess while traipsing from one airport terminal to the next. It worked. My back was significantly less sweaty than with my previous backpack. 5) I like the little padded pocket that goes against the small of your back. It's pickpocket-proof, and fits comfortably against the curve of my spine. 6) I didn't need the single shoulder strap that came in addition to the backpack straps. But I thought it was a nice touch to include it. 7) I like the clamshell opening of the main compartment. I pack with packing cubes, and that makes it so much easier to put them in. 8) There was PLENTY of room for everything I needed for a 4-day weekend. I packed a pair of lightweight pants, a pair of shorts, a very lightweight dress, 3 lightweight short-sleeved shirts, socks, underwear, a swimsuit, a pair of sandals, a tablet, charging cables and headphones, some food for the plane, a very small purse, my quart bag of shampoo/toothpaste/deodorant, and an inflatable pillow. I carried the water bottle. WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE 1) TOO MANY LARGE ZIPPERED COMPARTMENTS! It took me until the 4th trip before I really figured out which zippers opened which pockets, because sometimes I'd confuse which pocket held which items. Two zippers are top-only access to larger pockets that ALSO have all-around zippers as well. That drove me nuts. I didn't need those extra zippers, since I could already access those compartments. There is also one section that is a bit shorter than other sections, and I actually "lost" my phone under it. I had placed it on top, figuring if it slipped, I knew what section it was in. But I didn't realize that one side extended under that short section. So when I put my hand down the OTHER side, looking for my phone, I didn't feel the short section, and thought I'd lost my phone, or that it had been lifted. 2) The water bottle pocket is so tiny, I couldn't even get me S'ip by S'well 12-oz bottle reliably in there. I'm not sure what kind of refillable non-plastic bottle WOULD fit. 3) A minor quibble: While I liked the organizer pocket, it was very shallow. I would have preferred a deeper outside pocket, like what the Tom Bihn Synapse backpacks have. That way, I can fit the little packing cube that has my chargers and headphones, and have easy access to it when it's under the airplane seat. I had to use one of the larger compartments for my little packing cube, and it kept slipping down to the bottom, and then I'd have to drag the entire backpack out from under the seat in order to get my headphones, and then my charger. THINGS I'M NEUTRAL ABOUT The fabric is not my favorite. I actually don't like any of the colors, maybe because I don't like the fabric? I got the blue, and it's ok, but the heather-y fabric looks like fake denim. It held up well for 5 plane flights, though, and it seems to be fairly lightweight. So, I took off one star because I was really annoyed by all the zippers, and the other star because of the lack of separate water bottle pocket. It's a very good backpack otherwise, especially at this price point.
