I'm pleasantly surprise
By Zukkie44 on Reviewed in the United States on March 23, 2019
I've been running in ASICS GT-2000 since the #1 model (and before that, the 2160s). Although very different, this model is an upgrade to the #5s for several reasons. And, I'm happy to report that I haven't poked a hole through them yet! I typically run 10 - 25 miles per week (alternating pairs of shoes); and I mildly overpronate. I read all the bad reviews about holes forming early, and I thought I'd definitely have the same problem: my big toe tends to poke through running shoes after 200-300 miles, and my pinky toe has poked out the sides of several types of street shoes. Still, I took a chance and bought them. Upon arrival, I was skeptical of the new-style upper; and immediately understood why holes might form. But, I've now run 100+ street miles in these shoes, and they look and feel like new. There are no holes to be seen, nor forming. Plus they feel lighter on my feet, and more stable thanks to the new eyelets. They provide just as much support as the GT-2000 series promises. Plus, the upgraded breatheability is notable. I'm so glad ASICS didn't compromise what made the GT-2000 series great!

Great shoe with some problems that should have been prevented
By Mike M on Reviewed in the United States on September 1, 2019
I've had my Asics GT-2000 6 shoes for around 6 months; maybe a little more. They fit great in terms of length and width, but the toe box is really short and pushes down on my toenails. This is a real shame because they are otherwise the best Asics I've had in years in terms of how they feel under my feet. Because they are a bit uncomfortable to wear on my toes, I have not used them as much as I would have otherwise, so I can't say if the durability issues others have had would be an issue for me. I've worn them more than most who have had problems, but not in the kind of use that might stress them because they are simply only comfortable enough to walk around in casually. Any running and my toes start to hurt from the nails being pushed down. As I said, these are the most comfortable Asics I've had in years if you take the toe box fit out of the equation, so I'm torn between moving on or trying a half size bigger. I've tried some on and they still fit within the normal parameters, even though I've never had Asics in that size before. I think that these may just run a quarter size smaller than Asics normally are. It's possible that the others with mesh tearing are similarly buying their normal size and they are under too much tension from being a little too small. I've had Asics since the first Gel Lyte back in the mid-80s and I've always worn a 10.5, but maybe these just need to be an 11. Hard to recommend these to anyone, even though I do like a lot about them. They were almost the best Asics I've every had, but are almost the worst.
