ES1 vs ES2 Comparison, this is the scooter to beat
By Royal T. on Reviewed in the United States on March 1, 2018
I've been using this as a commuter scooter and it has me very impressed! First to clear up some misconceptions, in researching this scooter before purchasing I found a number of reviews saying that the ES1 (as compared to the ES2) did not have regenerative breaking and could not use the booster battery, which for whatever reason I cannot find for sale here in the US. Now that I have mine, I can say for sure that it does have the regenerative electronic breaking built in, which I find preferable since it is great for keeping a consistent speed down hills, and that it does support the second battery. The actual differences between the two models are about 3mph in top speed, back and bottom lighting effects since the ES1 only has a front light, and suspension on the back as well as the front. For what is currently a $300 difference, I'd call the ES1 by far the better value. One thing to consider is the ES2 has a slightly better motor, thus the higher speeds, which would give it a bit better performance up hills. The ES1 seems to do fine for me up light grades, and I weigh about 220 with my backpack on, but struggles on most hills. It seldom drops below 8 mph even then and I can give it a little push to help out, but something to be aware of if you're approaching the weight limit on it like I am. The scooter itself is bigger than I expected. When folded I'd say it's about as long as a good longboard, but should fit in a trunk or on transit just fine. It seems extremely durable, and so far I haven't had any problems with the latch as some people have mentioned here. It is also somewhat heavy, but I usually wheel it around on it's front wheel when possible, and at under 30 pounds it's not terrible to carry when I need to. Range is roughly as advertised, I get around two days and probably 10-12 miles of many short trips between charges. The charger is also very light, so I consider this more than sufficient. The app for the device is excellent, I recommend exploring it since there is very little documentation, but you can learn a lot about the scooter from the app settings. That's all I've got, but if you're looking for a good "last mile" solution, I recommend this over any eboard, bike, or scooter I've seen for it's excellent handling and overall features.

GOOD product, BAD customer service
By Shibaski on Reviewed in the United States on February 15, 2018
EDIT: 2018.08.05 I finally figured out the cause of the handle pole shaking + creaking noise issue that the Repair center couldn't answer. There should be 2 rubber pieces inside the folding mechanism (check photo 3-5) and they happen to fall out very easily. When these pieces are gone, the handle will shake back and forth, and cause creaking noise like no tomorrow. As far as I know, there is no way to buy these from online so I suggest you SPAM the customer service and ask them to send it via mail. Make sure you SPAM them because even if you do, they probably won't bother to check their inquiries unless you're lucky. Too bad I figured this out only after I switched to Xiaomi M365. (ES1 is sold) I wish you all good luck. Ps. ES1 and ES2 were discontinued by manufacturer due to having so many defects and issues. Ones that are being sold are just left over clearances of third party sellers (not Ninebot US) with no guarantee of functionality. EDIT: 2018.07.12 I've been trying to contact the service center since the last update, and the very last thing I've heard from them was to wait for their response and never heard a word again. I SUGGEST YOU NOT TO BUY THIS PRODUCT IF YOU WANT AN AFTER SERVICE. EDIT: 2018.05.24 After 4 months of use, the scooter started to make rattling/creaking noise in the rear brake when on the run. So, I sent in the scooter for free repair under 1-year warranty to the repair center located in Michigan. After about a month I received the scooter back. Unfortunately, the original issue was only partly resolved and more problems came along after "repair service". The first thing I noticed when I received the scooter was that the re-assembly process by the technicians were not done properly. 1. The plastic assemblies which covers the front fork weren't installed properly so they won't fully close (photo 1) 2. Not only that they left the warranty warning sticker un-replaced, they also misplaced the cover on the front side of the pole. This was originally installed in the back of the pole just under the charging port. Why would any professional install something like warranty sticker on the very visible/noticeable part of their product? Perhaps, their technicians aren't professionals. (photo 2) 3. Most importantly, the entire handle/pole assembly began to shake back and forth even when the folding mechanism is fully locked. I can tell you this scooter is NOT durable but lack of proper service makes this product even worse. As of now, I'm trying to get in touch with the "Vice President of Global Service" of Segway as well as the repair center but they both aren't responding. ORIGNAL REVIEW: 2018.01.10 I originally planned on bringing Xiaomi M365 from China, because it's so expensive in the states. However, no airlines offer lithium battery this big on the plane. Besides, the charger requires 220v - Type I plug. Then, all of the sudden, I was lucky enough to find this product on Amazon and was able to buy it at very reasonable price (0.3k Mula) I've been riding this for about a month and I absolutely love it. The only cons is that the footplate catches too much foot prints because the material is not only bright grey, but also made of anti-slip kind rubber. Furthermore, the foot brake makes the weirdest sound once in motion, and sprays dust all over the board from scratching the tire to create friction. So I only use the electric brake on the handle. Other than that, this scooter has exceeded my expectation. I think I saved almost $100 of Uber money within a month lol.
