Compact set

Really a good kit for camping. Very compact size, fits a 10qt dutch oven and has a small grill as well. Not too many loose pieces to lose, folds up for storage in a small area. Built well for long term use. I like it because it keeps the cast iron off the ground but still by the coals. Its a small grilling surface but ok for 2 people. Definitely enhances the dutch oven use and makes you able to bring the cooking where you want it and not over or near a open fire. Even a skillet can be used with this set.

Cool product, but lacking in real functionality.

I waited a really long time to get this, and I wanted very much to love it. It still gets ooos and ahhhs from other campers, and I think that revision 2 of this device might be awesome. The stand is good for 12 inch ovens, but does not work well on my 16 inch oven. When I go to set it on the ground the lid still touches the ground. A smidge more length on the legs would have been good. As for the grill, I was really disappointed. It is very fiddly to try and attach the grill. There are no good lock points, and you have to manually adjust each of the legs to make it fit. I would have expected a better attachment point on the grill for the legs to lock into. Then there is the charcoal holder. Fantastic idea, and I love the extendable handles, but ultimately it falls short. Here is how. When you attach the grill to the stand the hook that attaches to the spring is NEVER straight. There just simply is no way because the the short fall of the design. What this means is that the charcoal holder is also not level and is closer to the grill on one side than the other, causing hot spots. The integrated hook for catching the handle is an afterthought and difficult to use. Lastly the unit just does not fold up well. I wish that there was a way to make it pack up neatly, but ultimately the legs can't collapse on each other far enough to fold anywhere near flat. The legs also rub against each other, and take off the powder coating. Not good. This makes the unit unwieldy to try and stuff or stack. I would never consider carrying it in my ovens, as the metal would gouge the finish. So there you go. I really applaud Camp Maid for being creative. I just would like to see some improvements in the product to justify the cost.
