Quality, multi-functional umbrella that handles mild-to-moderate wind.

It’s the best travel sunshade/rain umbrella out there that I could find that didn’t cost an arm and a leg and my firstborn child. With that said, it’s still on the pricey side. It would also be nice if they offered the sunshade variety in different colors; but all in all, it worked well on the beach with constant wind blowing. (Note: it did invert when I swished it around to see how it held up in big up drafts, but was easily reset to normal with no apparent damage.) So I would say it can handle moderate wind and steady breezes; but hang on in weather with grand gusts. If that happens, you may get wet but if it inverts, you won’t be out a basically functional umbrella.

Good enough as mostly reliable on Manhattan for a few years but lifetime warranty terms are sketchy
By flac.jacket on Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2025
Three stars. One star off for slow disassembly of mechanical fasteners. One star off for requiring registration for narrow lifetime warranty. The umbrella is more durable than most others I can recall having used. I still keep it on the side of my backpack. It still mostly works. My umbrella lasted intact less than four years on Manhattan albeit there was some pandemic times in that lifespan. The rivets pop out, slowly, one by one, across time. As the umbrella disassembles the action mostly works like a champ. My umbrella did become less usable because of manufacturing and materials across maybe the third and definitely the fourth year. It still kind of works. I believe the resilience of the mechanical fasteners vs the spring loaded actions are in conflict. The springs win. Rivets fail and disappear. I don't know enough about industrial design at scale to be able to imagine if higher quality industrial design is feasible for the price on amzn. I do know that their margin is high enough to OFFER a narrow lifetime warranty. I'm not a fan of registering a product for a lifetime warranty that covers manufacturing and quality defects. "Please note that this warranty is not valid unless the item is purchased directly from Repel Umbrella® and registered under our warranty. Upon receipt of your purchase, you need to register your product on our website. " I'd like to see this kind of data collecting become a thing of the past. It's not if malevolent actors gain control of their data, it's when. And, there's no guarantee that the company or some other entity will not sell the data at some point in the future.
