since I bought an extra bottle at the same time as the lid because I like this bottle so much

I'm copy/pasting this review for the bottle too, since I bought an extra bottle at the same time as the lid because I like this bottle so much. The lid itself is only part of what makes the bottle great. In fact, the lid can break if you are in a hurry in the morning and fail to grab onto the bottle sufficiently and then drop it just right on your hardwood floors spilling water all over and making you late for work, which is why they sell replacement lids (lol, amirite?). But replacement exists, which is great, because the bottle is awesome. It stays cool pretty much all day. It will take ice about eight hours to completely melt. The spout stays closed and I've never had a leak, except for the time I dropped it and broke the lid. The carabiner that comes with it is a little small and the spring can break, but is super handy to hook to your bag so I replaced it with something more sturdy and it was great. The covering on the outside is nice. It doesn't condense, it isn't cold, it isn't slippery. I personally don't use the insulated bag that comes with it. It isn't necessary and it adds bulk. The real props should probably go to the original manufacturer, though. This same bottle is under a few different brands. Swig Savvy is fortunate to have chosen such a catchy brand name.

Worked great at first, then straws wore out. Pours freely when spout open, leads to spills.

I loved these bottles when we first received them so I bought one for all of us. The difference in how long your water stays cold is astounding. Living in Phoenix, it is so important to stay hydrated and these bottles helped the water stay refreshing and appetizing so that we drank far more than when we used the plastic kinds. However, I won't be buying them again. Here are the reasons why: 1) They aren't dishwasher safe. This made using them frequently less than convenient. 2) After awhile, we couldn't get the straws back into the lid after washing. They barely fit and once they start to get frayed around the edges it is impossible to get them back into the hole. One by one, they stopped having straws that would fit. 3) They seal very well when the spout is closed, however, when the spout is open they pour freely if knocked over (which happened to us and ruined a spot on our wood floors). 4) The spout issue is made worse by the fact that they are not particularly easy to open and close the spout. We had been using the Contigo water bottles with the spring loaded spout button. These just have a small plastic notch on the spout itself to pull with. My small kids could not open them on their own which meant they left them open...which led to ruined wood floors. I had purchased a metal version of the Contigo water bottle at the same time but I gave it to my mom when I preferred the look and feel of the Savvy bottles. She is still happily using it and we are down to our last functioning Savvy straw so I will buy more of the metal Contigo bottles when I can. It seems like the Savvy is more insulated than the Contigo but it doesn't do you much good when you can't use it.
