Re-discovered hiking, biking, jogging. So this year instead of carrying around a hydro flask, wasting plastic with bottled water, borrowing friends equipment or just carrying a poorly designed backpack I purchased the Camelbak HAWG. This pack has ample amounts of storage for day hiking. The weight is distributed perfectly with the easily adjustable straps. The bladder on this is amazing. Really enjoy the 1/4 turn lock. The plastic is very durable. My lone complaint with the bladder is that the material that it hooks onto is very difficult to unhook it. The quick release attachments make for an easy, no mess process. The straw is insulated. Insulation doesn’t really keep it cold, but it does provide for some extra protection. There is also a quick disconnect for the mouthpiece which makes for easy cleaning/replacement. Only thing I would have liked is some outside netting. However, there is Velcro and some neat little web system for which you can purchase attachments. I recently bought the attachments, but have not had an opportunity to use yet. The bottom of the pack is very thick and can take a beating for a while. Which is great if you are drowning lots of time on trails. I have been using the pack for 2 months now. This is my first backpack that I have ever purchased with this kind of dedicated use. I’m also kind of a cheap person. So I am very critical of things, especially expensive items. I’m very happy with this purchase, and feel like I’m getting my monies worth. I will come back and update this at the end of the summer. So far the pack and I have logged 140 miles since mid-May

Not as big as advertised

I was hoping this bag would accommodate quite a bit more gear than it could realistically handle and I ended up returning it. As an active professional that travels around the NYC metro area via public transit frequently, I was hoping to find a bag to consolidate my briefcase and gym bag needs in one large bag. I train in Muay Thai and BJJ and usually carry around a legal-sized portfolio and maybe a few note pads, pens, flash drives, etc. I couldn't fit both my Muay Thai gloves, shorts, wraps, running shoes, and BJJ gi in the bag while also leaving enough room for my meager work materials. I think that for my specific needs, this bag is too focused on outdoor/ hiking needs for me. I could have used the space the water bladder took up and even done more if the two main compartments were simply one. I may be left with little choice but to pony up for a GoRuck GR1.
