Outstanding EDC knife, with a few issues
By yankee2 on Reviewed in the United States on September 24, 2017
Extremely solid construction.. could not ask for or expect more in that department. The steel (cts-xhp) is outstanding. I haven't bought any really good knives previously, with really good blade steels, and I'm impressed. Right out of the box it was sharper than I have even achieved on my cheaper knives before, in fact sharp enough to shave my arm with, but not quite razor sharp. Even better, in a week of regular use (mostly opening corrugated cardboard boxes), it seems as sharp as the day I got it. One little issue is that the lock must be pressed quite deeply to release the blade, so closing this knife requires some deliberate effort. Another issue, which I suppose a lot of knives have, is that the clip is very tight. I might have to stretch it a bit, otherwise I think it will prematurely wear out the edges of my jeans pockets. Finally, and this could be a serious issue, the flipper on the base of the blade sticks out beyond the scales, on one side in particular, so that several times it has caught on the edge of my pocket, pulling the knife open as I drew it out. That COULD lead to a badly damaged pair of pants, or even a bad cut. The stop could be 1/16 or 3/32" shorter and still do its job (though this knife seems much too stiff to flip open; maybe those more skilled can do it), and probably avoid this problem. All told, this is a terrific little knife, without much doubt the best I ever owned. Despite the little issues I describe, I'd recommend it to anyone.

Don't buy Cold Steel knives!!! Does not hold an edge.

Updated July 2019 So I've spent time sharpening and using this USELESS thing. I think this steel is junk. After about 5 feet of cardboard cuts it is in need of resharpening. Would have expected better performance from the "high grade" of steel. Difficult to start a cut with the blade shape. Disappointing at best. This is a quality knife? No way. I think they put some cheap steel in it. Even had it sharpened from a carbide sharpening business. DO NOT BUY FROM COLD STEEL!!!
