Very bright, easy to install and adjust and it really improves your shooting!
By JJCEO on Reviewed in the United States on April 24, 2016
I like laser sights on my home defense guns and on my carry guns. They help to improve my shooting and in critical and stressful situations it just helps your confidence to know that you are targeting correctly. When accuracy counts you have to make sure that you know what you are doing. I have used 4 different styles of laser sights over the years and I liked this one’s design as my newest 2 guns have mini rails under the barrels. This sight is easy to install and it is easy to adjust the windage and elevation settings. A great feature for this particular laser sight is that it is a green laser and very bright. It is much easier to see in the daylight and in the dawn, dusk or night time situations than a red laser. I liked this sight so much that I purchased 2 of them as they were on a great sale price and I have several weapons that I wanted to install lasers on. What’s in the box? • The laser itself • Two rail side mounting clamps • Four rail inserts to allow you to mount the rail mounted laser on multiple types of guns and rifles. The inserts are numbered and in the manual is a table to tell you which insert to use for your type of gun. (I show this in my video) • Two long mounting screws to mount the laser to your weapon. • Two lens wiping swabs • A small tool that you use to adjust the windage and elevation settings. • A battery that is a DL 1/3N 3V Lithium battery. Please note that you can register with Crimson Trace and get one free replacement battery once per year. The batteries are also available on Amazon and I have a small stock of them as multiple lasers and red dot scopes that I own use this same battery. The battery life for this green laser is two hours of continuous on time. • A battery cover. • An installation manual with set up instructions. • A gun safety warning sheet. • A warranty registration card and the warranty is for 3 years. • Two laser warning labels that you are requested to put onto your weapon. The laser is simple and easy to install and the adjustments are easy to make. The sight has ambidextrous switches to turn on the laser and the basic mode is constant on/off. If you press the switches on both sides of the laser for 3 seconds you can select the momentary on mode or the strobe mode and then back to the constant mode. It is a 3 second press of both switches to step to the next mode. The first thing I did was insert the battery and the positive terminal of the battery is installed facing down towards the battery cover. Do not shine the laser into your eyes as it is very bright and it can damage your eyesight. Make sure that the laser mounting screws are tightened but do not strip them as they are small. Some people noted that you may have to use Blue Loctite to secure the screws but I have not had that issue with mine. I always mount items so that the piece that fits between the rail guides is setting on the back of the rail slot so the gun recoil does not move what you are mounting. I show this in my video. This is a good product and I like it a lot. It was priced extremely well and I could not pass up buying several of these for my guns. I like this product and I rated it at 5 stars.

Won't stay zeroed, poor laser focus, flimsy-looking mount
By Dave R on Reviewed in the United States on June 7, 2016
I installed this CMR-206 on a .Beretta PX4 in .45 ACP. I can't get it to hold zero, it keeps walking itself down and left off the target. The laser itself is very poorly focused and wastes a lot of its energy, diminishing the resultant visibility. It is still very bright, but in a dark setting the splatter is so bad that it makes it hard to see exactly where the target is because the splash dazzles the eye. I have included two photos. The first is of a target that illustrates how the sight loses zero. Ignore the shots in the upper right, I was re-zeroing using the top dot. Once re-zeroed I started in the middle and the more rounds I fired the more low and to the left I shot. This was my 4th and final target of the day and is typical of the results. I used a laser boresighter to do the initial zero, tweaked it, then fired a string of 30 shots. The last 4 were off the paper low and left. I re-checked with the boresighter after the 30th shot and the sight was indeed off just as much as the holes indicated it was. I am a fairly decent shot and I was firing with a wrist rest from a seated position at 15 yards. I was able to shoot groups of ten inside the 9-ring using the iron sights. I repeated this test four times with the same results, the laser sight just won't stay zeroed. I did notice that the aim point sometimes tends to change a lot between magazines. Maybe the shock of releasing the slide is jarring it out of alignment, but it is also apparent that the recoil is having an effect. The mounting screws did not seem to loosen at all, and tightening them did not help. The second photo is a comparison of the focusing between this CMR-206 and a $3 laser cat toy at 35 feet. I cleaned the lens with the supplied swaps and some IPA, and that didn't help. I cleaned it again with some optical-grade zero-residue CMOS sensor cleaner with no change in the focus. I can't get a good picture of it, but when I turn out the light I can see that the green laser is spread out in a rough circle about 4 feet in diameter at 35 feet. The cat toy spreads out less than 6 inches. The mount just seems flimsy and prone to breaking to me. I am also annoyed by their requirement to remove it during cleaning because that is going to require re-zeroing and that is a waste of time and money. This is just not acceptable performance from what is supposed to be one of the better quality laser sights on the market. A sight that won't stay zeroed is useless - and unsafe. I have emailed Crimson Trace. If they say this is normal or acceptable I'll be returning this item for a refund.
