A Very Practical Alternative To Recurring Gym Membership Fees!
By Toulinwoek on Reviewed in the United States on November 16, 2016
This is a very, very good weight bench for the home gym. It permits a wide variety of exercises to be performed, it's super sturdy and all the parts and pieces look and feel to be of good quality. I haven't yet subjected it to heavy use, but just from trying everything out, I have no reason to expect it to start falling apart any time soon. I'm not by any means a 'body builder', I just work out to keep trim and in shape. This bench will more than fit the bill for that. I have a gym membership, but I don't go to the gym for social reasons. With this, I can't think of a reason to keep that membership.A couple of dings though; minor ones but dings nonetheless. ONE is that adjusting the height of the preacher curl pad requires completely unscrewing and removing a knob bolt. I don't know why a lock pin wouldn't have been better for that. TWO is that I wish the seat could be adjusted forward and backward just a bit. But again, those are very minor dings.Assembly wasn't bad at all since I followed the instructions carefully. However, the weird-looking little 'tool' provided for assembly is all but worthless! Unfortunately, the only alternative tools I had, and had to use, were a pair of standard pliers and a pair of channel lock pliers. Still from unboxing to completion took a bit less than two hours working entirely alone. If I'd had a socket set, I probably could have cut that time by a third. There were neither any missing parts or pieces nor any extras. None of the parts were scratched, bent or dented and everything was well-packed.Overall, I'd recommend this bench. It's decently priced, of good quality, not hard to assemble and doesn't take up as much space as I thought it might. Plus, it looks very nice. If for any reason, as I use it, I come up with a reason to deduct any stars, I'll update this review. But for now, I don't hesitate to give it all 5.

Works, easy to setup, and relatively simple use.

Ok I've been using this bench for all kinds of workouts now for several months. Here are my observations:The Good:- Came well packaged and was easy to setup, though it took the padding some time to recover from some lopsidedness due to getting crushed in some on one side. Didn't affect overall use and eventually it filled back out.- it is solid enough for moderate weight, the most I put on the bar was 275. The braces and bar rest handle it well, though I've scraped a lot of black paint off.- it is nice to have a decent preacher bench pad, which handled up to 105 bar and dumbbells just fine- adjustments to bar height are easy.- It is light and solid enough to pickup and move once assembled, which isn't hard. The not as good:- the bar rests are too close together, which has two negative effects; 1- You have to be careful loading your bar, too much weight on either side and it will definitely tip over. 2- your hand grips, can be impeded, especially if you are a bit wider in the shoulder like me.- The seat is not adjustable, nor does it have any way to hold yourself in place with your legs, which makes incline and decline benching a bit more challenging, especially the heaver weights....Overall, I was able to maintain my free weight bar and dumbbells press throughout the COVID closure of my gym, so it did the job I needed. To do it again I would just fork out the extra money to get a better bench or even a squat rack with adjustable bar rests and an adjustable standalone bench with leg pegs. This bench could be a lot better with a wider build and leg braces, but for the price, does ok.
