Great protection!

We ordered this when our daughter turned her ankle in club ball. We tried other semi-rigid ankle braces, but came back to these. They are more flexible and fit into her shoes comfortably. I would recommend these to anyone who is recovering from an ankle sprain.

Poor quality of materials, poor fit, doesn't provide much support.

I've had this brace for a couple months now. I wanted to be sure I knew how well it worked before reviewing it. I bought this after suffering an ankle sprain. Shipment was delayed because of the pandemic, which is totally OK, but which meant I had to find one locally for use while waiting for this brace to arrive. This gave me a good opportunity for comparison. I wear a size 11.5 (US), which is not represented on the sizing chart here on Amazon. The listing did not specify whether sizes ran small or large, and I really needed the brace, so I ordered an 11 and a 12. The 11 is barely big enough, and the 12 is too large. I wound up using the size 11. The support straps attach near the bumps on the ankle (which I believe are called the malleoli), wrap around the front of the foot, and come up on the same side of the foot to attach with velcro. The brace I bought locally worked the same way--but the straps attached much lower on the ankle, almost under the foot. As a result, the brace I bought locally provides much better support, while the Active Ankle brace is barely adequate. This might have been less of a problem if the brace were available in the correct size, but I kinda doubt it. The Active Ankle brace is somewhat more comfortable than the more supportive brace, so the Active Ankle brace might be adequate for more mild sprains, and might make a good backup--except that the quality of materials isn't very good. I've only used the Active Ankle brace a few times--maybe 8 or 10 days total--but the loop portion of the velcro is already starting to come apart. It's all fuzzy, and I don't expect it to last for more than another 8 or 10 uses before going bad completely. My sprain's pretty bad, so the lack of support might not be an issue for minor sprains or for prevention of injury. If it wasn't for the poor quality of the velcro I'd recommend this as a backup, but as it is I doubt this'll even be much use for that.
