Great owb concealment holster!
By RhettBurkett on Reviewed in the United States on May 29, 2025
I saw a demo model of this holster in a brick and mortar and really liked the retention system. They never would restock this model, so Amazon took care of it. The Safari suede lining is nice to the finish of your weapon. I really like the paddle and I may adjust the cant but I like the factory position so far. The holster really keeps everything snug and tight to your body, it doesn't feel like it's flopping around on your hip. Doesn't take much of a belt to hold it up and a Glock 17 isn't light. Throw a light jacket, vest, or guide shirt on and you're covered. I like this better than my iwb holster(s). One of the best attributes is it rides well on your hip even sitting behind the wheel of an F-150 or Sequoia with the seatbelt fastened.

Initially loved it, but it failed...

CAUTION: Read entire review before purchase. Initial Review: Great piece of gear. My Glock with a Surefire X200 fits securely. After a couple hours, the release mechanism becomes second nature; and after using the Safariland SLS, Blackhawk Serpa, and an HTC kydex retention holster for years, this Safariland ALS model has become my new favorite. I'd highly recommend a Safariland mid-ride drop adapter for those who want to use this with soft armor and plates. The mid-ride allows for a smooth draw and is still comfortable for me in a vehicle. New review (11SEP2017): This holster was a dream come true for a couple months. Unfortunately, it utterly failed when it was exposed to heavy rains. I'm writing this review from southwest Florida. Hurricane Irma just hit us yesterday, and it brought high winds and heavy rainfall. The holster initially worked fine, but after working outside for a few hours and getting soaked, this changed. After I came inside, I attempted to draw my Glock 17 to dry it off, and to my surprise the firearm was stuck. It took a lot of force to get it out. I dried off the Glock and holster as best I could and adjusted the tension screw. It didn't help, and I had an even more difficult time reholstering it. I switched to my old Serpa for the duration of the hurricane. A day later, the holster still takes an excessive amount of force to holster and unholster. It is non-mission capable. I'm grateful that I found this out now and not in a potentially life-threatening situation. Update (29SEP2017): I talked to Safariland customer service about the issue, and the representative said the company was aware of the problem. He said the problem was fixed in the 7-series holsters because they switched to a nylon material on the inside of the holster which doesn't expand when saturated. The model 7378 is the 7-series equivalent of this holster.
