For the price, I was impressed.

I bought this for airsoft, and I ended it up putting it on my 5.56 to see if it could handle a real firearm. First off, I was very impressed. It was accurate out to 100 yards, although I haven't tested it at distances further than that. All of my buddies who were rocking better optics were making fun of me at the range when they saw a Bushnell on my rifle. They didn't keep laughing for long. I was getting consistent, accurate shots with groupings inside the diameter of a golf ball at 100 yards. A lot of people don't realize that an expensive optic won't make you shoot better. If you can't control your trigger, control your breathing, and you don't have all of the fundamentals down, you can have the newest Leopold and still suck. Now I will say that after testing it I did put my Aimpoint back on my AR. because it is better, clearer, and has better parallax. But if you're looking for a good, solid, durable, relatively clear budget optic, you probably can't beat this for the price. It will serve you well. It has a slight blueish tint, has a very slight magnification, but it's what you'd expect in an optic in this price range. but guess what? It still works, and it still does it's job.

Good sight for plinking
By tweety on Reviewed in the United States on November 29, 2014
I have a flat-top AR with a fixed front sight post and a Magpul flip-up BUIS on the rear. The TRS-25’s included riser is designed for a 1/3 co-witness but the sight’s emitter is located in the 6 o’clock position and blocked my sights in this configuration. I switched to a UTG mid-height riser and had no problems with the resulting absolute co-witness. The red dot disappears when it gets about 20% from the top of the sight. This seemed strange so I called Bushnell and they confirmed that this was normal. I found that hard to believe so I returned the sight for a replacement from Amazon and the new sight had the same issue. The replacement sight also had a bluish-green tint when looking through the sight where the original one was perfectly clear. The included battery lasted 4 days with the brightness set at 11. With a fresh Energizer battery it lasted 10 days at level 5. This is a well-built sight with many things to like. If you are looking for a RDS to play around with you can’t go wrong with the TRS-25. If you are looking for a 1/3 co-witness, you might try the version that doesn’t come with a riser. I understand that its emitter is at the 4 o’clock position so it might work for both 1/3 and absolute co-witness. And since it doesn’t come with a riser, you’re free to choose one that works best for your configuration. It’s the battery life that makes this sight unworkable for me. In a high-stress personal defense situation, I don’t want to have to manually turn on the sight and then worry about how much battery life I have left. I’m going to try the Holosun HS403A. It costs twice as much as the Bushnell but they seem to have been able to copy Aimpoint’s battery life technology so it never has to be turned off. I’ll just change the battery once a year and never worry about it.
