Which controller will you get?
By West Texas on Reviewed in the United States on November 20, 2020
I scoured reviews of blanket after blanket and they were all the same including this one. Glowing reviews telling how they were the greatest thing on God’s green earth and negative reviews saying how they came apart, stopped heating, shriveled up or otherwise suffered some sort of untimely death. I decided to just pick the blanket with the simplest controller and this is the one I chose. There is a slight chemical odor when opening the package which I would have preferred to smell like strawberry ice cream, but it quickly dissipates. The blanket is thin and I’m fine with that. It means it will be a good summer blanket too. If you feel the blanket, you can feel the wires, but isn’t that the case with all electric blankets? It’s been the case with all electric blankets I have owned. I've had blankets where it felt like I was sleeping under a chain link fence. Somehow, I don’t notice the wires in this blanket when I go to bed, but of course I have a sheet between me and the blanket. There is no preheat feature, but I didn’t want one. Why would you need that. Just turn your blanket on and it heats up. This blanket gets very warm very fast. Admittedly, I didn’t go through and patiently try the different settings to see how much difference each setting would have, but I’m not looking for precision heat. I just crank it up to ten before going to bed and lower it to four or five when I go to bed and this system works for me. If you want to lose weight just leave it on ten all night. You'll wake up in a sweat and ten pounds lighter. If I had and issue it would be the controllers - two because I bought a queen. They are not exactly what I expected to get. One picture shows a little window in the dial with a number showing in the window. The controllers I got look the same minus the window. Instead the dial has an arrow painted on it which points to the numbers one through ten painted on the controller. A new picture, which I believe was added since I made my purchase, only shows up if you select the queen blanket in the mushroom color, (I really like the color), shows the controllers I got. All the other colors and sizes only show the controller with the window. Do the different size and color blankets actually have different controllers? Did I get old style controllers or a newer design? Are they eliminating the window to save three cents? Again, only the queen mushroom blanket shows the controller minus the window, but also shows the controller with the window. It in no way affects the operation of the blanket. I just don’t like ordering one thing and getting something that looks different. I like getting exactly what I ordered. If there had been completely different controllers I likely would have returned the blanket since the controller design is the reason I chose this blanket, but I can live without the little window.I really like that the controllers are so simple even though they are a little clunky sitting on the nightstand. I’ll likely end up fastening them down with Velcro or double stick tape or maybe hang them on hooks so the weight of the power cord isn’t able to pull them down to the floor. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of controllers out there made to properly sit and remain on your nightstand. Are you listening design engineers? With these controllers you just press a button to turn it on and twist the dial to the setting you want and your done. Very quickly the blanket is nice and toasty. I like being able to quickly twist that dial to the setting I want rather than having to press a button to cycle through the settings. The blanket will shut off automatically after ten hours or you can hit the button to turn it off.So far I’m pleased with the blanket. It’s simple to operate, provides good evenly distributed heat and there is only one electrical connection at the foot of the blanket. That electrical connection is at most only six inches from the foot of the blanket which means it’s out of the way and your feet aren’t feeling it. No doubt if it falls apart, stops heating or shrivels up it will be on the coldest night in the coming winter, but that’s what girlfriends are for. So far I’m warm and happy – in more ways than one.

Loving This Throw! UPDATE-Blanket NOW Failing! Now 2nd One Failing Too!
By Ella Belle on Reviewed in the United States on September 12, 2019
I bought the Sunbeam Heated Throw Blanket | Fleece, 3 Heat Settings, Cheetah pattern.I am using this throw as a back, neck and shoulder covering to keep me warm in my very chilly office as I'm sitting a my desk. I just received it today and I have been trying it out all morning. So far, I totally LOVE it!The fleece fabric is not real soft or plush, but it is fine for my needs. I might not like this throw quite as much if I were using it on my bed or snuggling up on my couch with it. For those uses, I would have chosen something softer and more plush. The Cheetah print on the fleece is a dark brown on a light beige background and it is decent looking. The fabric underneath the fleece, which holds the heating elements, has a stiff feeling, but for my needs it will be fine. This throw is heating wonderfully and has 3 different settings. It's high setting is plenty warm for me. So far, I am finding that I am using the medium or low setting the most, but I am sure I will also be using that high setting quite a bit once winter hits! The control on the cord is extremely easy to use and it does light up so you can see what setting you are on. I do wish the control cord was a bit longer though. This throw generously covers my back, down to my lower back, my shoulders, and my arms down to my elbows. There is enough of the throw left over to easily pull up over my head too, when I want to do that! Being that this throw does cover down to the elbows is absolutely perfect for me to operate my computer at my desk.As a safety reminder:I need to state that I am absolutely NOT sitting on this throw!, It is advised to not lay or sit on it! It gives out heat as an electric blanket normally does and it is NOT a giant heating pad. It does have an auto turn-off after 3 hours, and that does seem to work. But, I'd suggest to always unplug the blanket/throw when you are done using it, just to be on the safe side.So far, I am extremely happy with this throw/blanket for use as a covering to keep me warm while working at my desk. I had considered the poncho style of throws to use at my desk, but I really wanted something that I could actually pull up around my neck or cover my head and ears with so that is why I chose this throw. It is the perfect solution for me at my desk and I am totally loving it!Update 10/15/2019:PROBLEM! 4 days after my return window expired my blanket has a problem! The heat adjustment controller is sticking at the medium heat and I have to unplug it to turn it off or to reset it. This is happening every time I use it now. So, I am reducing my review down to 2 stars as i am feeling that this blanket is now unsafe. It was nice while it lasted but I'd now recommend buying a higher quality blanket. So Sorry Sunbeam :(Update 10/10/2020:I put the blanket away after the control started failing last October. Today, I got it out to see if it would work. Only get a blinking red light and no heat at all! I have reduced my review down to 1 star now. The truth is that this blanket only lasted 1 month last year before it began to fail. I do NOT recommend it.UPDATE 10/26/2020:I contacted Sunbeam, as this Cheetah print Throw was still under their 5 year warranty. After much back and forth, having to submit receipts, photos and amazon order info, they finally determined that I did qualify for a replacement. BUT, it's a replacement of their choice! I am stuck only getting what is not selling well and is left in stock from their warehouse!!! In my case the only thing I could get was an entirely different, downgraded item, of a totally unusable color for me. So, even with the warranty, you probably will not get the same item that you originally bought! Interestingly, the same Cheetah throw is still for sale here on Amazon. I am NOT HAPPY!UPDATE 01/30/2022:I ended up buying another one of these Sunbeam Heated Throw Blankets at the end of 2020 because I still wanted the Cheetah color, even though Sunbeam did send me a twin-sized bed blanket in blue as a replacement for the defective Cheetah Throw. Now this Sunbeam Heated Throw Blanket Cheetah pattern has failed too!Red blinking control light issues again with NO heat! Too much time has passed for me to return it to Amazon. I have reached out to Sunbeam again.Meanwhile, after 2 of this exact same Sunbeam Heated Throw Blanket have failed on me, I will NOT be buying another one. These Throws only seem to last for just a few months of winter use and go bad by the next year. The price on this has about doubled too. No more of these for me, and I do not recommend them.
