Excellent Scope Upgrade!
By Texguy on Reviewed in the United States on August 24, 2018
So far I’m really loving this scope! I installed it on my old 2007 Horton ExplorervXL 150. The red dot scope that came with my crossbow has been giving me problems the last 2 seasons, so I decided to upgrade to the UTG scope. Plus I wanted a scope that would also help me see better in low light. I had to buy the NEW HORTON CROSSBOW SCOPE MOUNT 7/8 DOVETAIL PICATINNY BASE to install this scope to my crossbow. That scope mount works great! I just sighted the scope in today. I was worried at first because my first shot while sighting in was 12” high at 10 yards! The arrow missed the target completely and buried deep into an oak tree! I lost that broad head and had to reglue one fletching back on. I was worried that there wasn’t enough elevation adjustment on the scope to bring it down 12 inches! But, I just did 24 clicks at a time, approximately 2”, and eventually got there. I was afraid to adjust too much at one time. Once I got it sighted in at 10 yards, I then moved back to 20 yards and used the second reticle. It was spot on! My old crossbow only has a 285 FPS bolt speed. So, I found the 3rd reticle was good for 25 yards, and the 4th reticle was good at 30 yards. You guys with faster bolt speeds will no doubt have different results. I can see very clearly out of this scope even without the reticle illumination turned on. I used the green color at low intensity a few times and really liked that affect! The quick detachable picatinny/weaver rings are really nice. I had to adjust mine a little to fit tighter on the scope mount I bought, but that was not a problem. I really like this scope. It feels rugged and of great quality. I’m afraid it out classes my old crossbow! I look forward to using it this hunting season, especially in lower light morning and evening hours.

Reticle a little too bright for my needs
By Eddie Nunn on Reviewed in the United States on December 13, 2019
Out of the box this scope looked great. Very bright reticle; be careful that it doesn’t mess up your night vision. I found it too bright even on the lowest setting. The reticle lit up but my background was gone. Now the scope I got would not zero from the right to left. I did the general corrections like re set the scope, gently tap after each adjustment, but it wouldn’t budge. I sent it back for that reason only, but didn’t re order another one because of the brightness of the reticle. For my shooting I plan to mount a hi-vis sight instead. Over all the scope was nice and I hope the issue I had was an isolated one, as by the many positive reviews. Good luck and happy hunting.
