Phenomenal price for a great holster. A true "Sleeper". Ditch the paddle, use the belt attachment.

These Safariland 5198 rigs are an exceptional deal. I personally am not a big fan of the paddle portion, and switch them over for belt carry with the hardware provided. They conceal well with a proper cover garment, have the ability to adjust retention, and are quite secure. As a person who has carried a gun for a living since 1988 in LE, the military, and as a contractor doing high threat protection, I have a fairly good grasp on the attributes of a proper holster. Not to mention 20+ years as an instructor. These Safarilands are an exceptional bargain, and I recall when these first came out, they were substantially more money. I have picked up numerous examples of this holster for various models of handguns I use, as the price is simply too good to pass up and they work exceptionally well. This is a great holster that can serve well for CCW, as well as USPSA Limited/Production/IDPA type competition. All at a price that is a fraction of what you would normally expect to pay for a great holster. I don't buy "cheap" holsters, or crappy gear because I got a "deal" on it as so many do, as that is a false economy, and when it comes to the subject matter, that would truly be incredibly foolish in my opinion. That said, this is a rare case where you can get a great holster at a price that is less than what I have paid for magazine pouches.

Good concealed carry holster
By James Wendt on Reviewed in the United States on January 23, 2015
I like this holster for concealed carry, but the tension system is a bit finicky and it's kind of an all or nothing deal. Having said that, if you need a level II or III retention holster, you should just buy one, right? The paddle is very comfortable and belt retention is spot on with it. It rides a bit high, which I like. It's a good holster, but I think the ALS rig is better for any application requiring holster with retention safety.
