SE Emergency Firestarter- 3 pack

This fire starter is a wonderful addition to any bug out bag or camping accessory with a very sound functionality. The biggest downfall is how cheaply made it is. the casing looks like a sturdy stainless steel, but the device is primarily made from plastic, including the threaded grip you hold to unscrew it (It's painted silver and will flake off). The second flaw is the very small keyring is fragile and will come uncoiled when put under any stress at all, therefore rendering the keychain attachment useless.Unfortunately, most likely due to error on my part, i overfilled the cotton chamber with too much fuel when i first used it, and when ignited, the entire rod caught on fire all the way down to the (plastic) threaded grip causing it to melt before i could extinguish the flames and therefore making it very hard to screw back in and get a good seal. The last flaw is the ferrocerium rod mounted in the groove on the side for striking/igniting the match is only glued in and provides a limited life to the fire starter, mine fell out after a couple of weeks attached to my pack, being carried around almost daily. I would not recommend carrying this around daily on a pack or keychain as it will break if subjected to any normal amount of stress.Overall, this is a wonderful idea to have a match that can light thousands of time over and over without fail, but the biggest turn off is the quality and durability of the product. I would only recommend if you wanted to store in a bug out back for emergencies, but this is not durable enough for daily carry. I am a huge amazon fan, but this product does not do them just, a cheap product that is very overpriced for the quality you get.There are better fire starters out there.
