Excellent, affordable stationary bike
By Pasca on Reviewed in the United States on August 23, 2015
I've had this bike for five weeks and use it 5-6 times weekly. I did a good deal of research on Sunny and other manufacturers of stationary bikes before purchasing this model. Amazon purchasers answered my questions and I found several indoor gym sites gave this bike excellent reviews. I did, however, purchase a Smart Guard five-year warranty, since the bike is made in China. It took about twenty-five minutes to assemble. Follow the minimal directions completely and don't cut corners. All tools come with the bike, which is nearly fully-assembled. All you have to do is add the pre-assembled seat base, the handlebars, pedals, cupholder, and the two base stands. Very easy. The bike is very well made and very well protected for shipping. The flywheel weighs nearly forty pounds, so, even a light resistance setting provides a good workout. The resistance adjustment knob allows for very fine tuning with only slight twists, allowing you to change settings easily and quickly while pedaling. You will get the best lower-body workout by riding hands free and sitting upright. The pedals have racing straps attached so your feet remain stable. You can easily stand up to ride, if you like. The bike is extremely quiet. You could use it in a room with a sleeping baby and not wake it. I'm glad I chose the belt-driven over the chain model. Reviewers agreed (here and elsewhere) that the belt-driven model is the better choice. The seat that comes with the bike is a racing seat. After two weeks, as I increased my riding time, it was too uncomfortable to use. I purchased the Bell Sports 7015679 Memory Foam Bike Seat from Amazon. Fits perfectly (you'll need to know how to change a bike seat, since it comes with no directions). The seat attachment base allows only minor forward-backward adjustment. I'm 5' 10" and have no problem reaching the handlebars; but I rarely use them. Again, you get the best workout by riding hands-free.Since this bike has no gears, you can't "coast," as on a real bike. Only a moron would attempt to dismount before coming to a complete stop. The bike is not a hazard or dangerous; it simply requires common sense (which seems to be in short supply these days) while using it.If you are not comfortable with Sunny's manufacturing quality, I would suggest getting a warranty. That way you won't have to deal Sunny at all. It does add to the cost of the purchase (~$80), but Sunny's bike is far less expensive than competitors. I probably would not purchase a warranty again, however. The bike far exceeded its presumed quality.I have been pleasantly surprised with the purchase and have found absolutely nothing cheap in its construction. Rock solid, quiet, well-manufactured. It's great to be able to exercise at home; this bike provides a great workout. I would recommend it to anyone.

Not durable.

I’m trying – and so far have failed – to find an at-home spin bike that works for me. I’ve tested several. The reviews here have helped me enormously, so I decided to post my impressions of the bikes I’ve tried. If anyone is happy with a spin bike they’ve purchased, please feel free to post in the comments. I haven’t had much luck so far, and I’m still looking for my happily-ever-after.About me: I’m an advanced spinner. I took in-person classes for a few years before I bought my first bike four years ago. For my home rides, I use the amazing Peloton app. None of the classes I took in-person compare to the Peloton classes. I spin three times a week, and take Tabata and HIIT rides. I like to take flat roads fast and climb heavy, so I require a bike that can handle that. I’m 5’6, female, and have a medium build. I install after- market clip-in pedals, so my reviews do not address the pedals that come with the bike. Unfortunately, I can’t afford a peloton bike, so I’m looking for a more moderately priced piece of equipment that will give me a great workout. This was the first spin bike I owned. The pro’s:1. The cost when I purchased it (which was HALF the price it is now, or I’d simply buy another);2. The responsiveness of the resistance knob;3. How solid the bike felt in general. The con’s:1. The price now. How is it possible that it’s DOUBLED in price in 3.5 years???2. It was just slightly too big for me. I got used to it, but I can’t imagine anyone under 5’6 would be able to use the bike with good form.3. I had to adjust the leveling knobs frequently, or it would wobble.4. The pad (which was felt, not leather) eventually wore out, which meant the resistance stopped being as responsive. However, I got 3.5 years of regular use out of it, so I’m actually okay with that (again, for the original price I paid).5. It does not come with a device holder, like most bikes at this new, higher price point. You’ll have to buy one separately. In short: A solid bike that I very much enjoyed owning. I’d buy a second, if the price hadn’t doubled in price, especially since I know I’ll only get 3+ years of use out of it. The lack of durability has me now looking for a magnetic resistance bike, which are supposed to require less maintenance and last longer. We shall see.
