Great Jacket
By Sanghyun Cho on Reviewed in the United States on July 11, 2025
Runs a bit large, (M fits like L) but it is expected as it is labeled oversized. Great coat for the winter or general work wear. Personally have only owned vintage carharrt, so having a new jacket was a first for me. A bit stiff out of the box, but after multiple wears it does soften. When washing, make sure you tumble dry until 50% dry and hang dry the rest of the way. The way carharrt does its fabric, using heat can lead to some shrinkage/breakdown.

Decent coat, bad size
By TB on Reviewed in the United States on December 8, 2024
Carhartt makes decent outdoor workwear but their sizing is way off. This jacket is thick and heavy and moderately warm. The material these work jackets are made out of is actually very poor for the outdoors as far as performance but they have a tough exterior that’s really nice if you’re working with abrasive material. And it will keep you warm as long as it doesn’t soaked through either from sweat on the inside, or rain from the outside. This jacket isn’t designed to be waterproof, which is fine, just a word in the rain, but no, if it gets saturated with water it will not keep you warm when wet, and takes forever and a day to dry (most jackets of this style I’ve ever found do). As far as the sizing, I just bought this for my buddy who is solidly a large, and it was too big for him when I bought the him the large size. He let me know and we’re gonna return it and try to get a medium and see how that works for him. For myself, I have this jacket but im 5’6” and have a 34 chest, I had to go down to a child size large, not child size extra large, that was way too big, a child size large to fit me (and the child size medium actually fit me better length wise, it just was way too short on the arms) I think I’ll get a Patagonia next time I need a jacket for work, their qualities just as good as Carhartt and the sizing is much better. Khul also makes great work jackets, a little better, actually in my opinion, but they don’t make a size small enough for me.
