Compact enough to carry around without the risk of breaking the rod.

I bought this one in the 1980’s and I used the heck out of it. It still works, but needed to get a new one for me and give this one to my grandson! Love it!

Disappointed.

I've always liked Diawa but in this order (we ordered 2) one of the two rod and reels was in good shape but one of them had a section of rod that had been cracked/split. The other rod and reel worked well. I returned the defective rod and Amazon shipped the replacement which I got today. Everything looked good. I put a spinner on the line and cast it to check it. As I was reeling it back in, I Immediately felt that the reel was not smooth like it should be but it did retrieve the line. I removed the drag control and took off the mechanism and found that one of the 2 small springs was not connected. One of the small black teeth that hold the spring was broken off. This was probably like this straight from the manufacturer. I uploaded some pictures. Now I have to send it back and wait another 3-5 days to get the replacement. Hopefully, the 3rd time will be the charm.
