Decent Scope at a Good Price
By S. Slater on Reviewed in the United States on February 19, 2013
Finding this scope seemed almost too good to be true. There were scopes that I found with lesser capabilities that cost more (red flag that this might not be a quality scope), but I couldn't get away from the $28.00 price tag. I ended up getting it and am pleased to the extent that I have used it. I read some reviews with complaints about not being able to focus the scope on objects that were 20 yards away. I'm not sure what the problem they were experiencing was because at the lowest magnification (3) I was able to focus on things that were across the room no problem. I think they might have kept the magnification to maximum, and if you do that, yes, you will have a problem with blurry images. The scope itself is aluminum and doesn't feel cheap, it comes with lens covers to keep your scope lenses clean, and it even comes with see-thru weaver ring mounts. A quick word about those. I couldn't use them on my Savage 64G because it uses Dovetail mounts but I do have a weaver mount on my Marlin 30-30. I was going to use these ring mounts on my Marlin because I have wanted see-thru mounts for a while now. I put the rings on the mount and looked down the openings only to find that it didn't matter that they were see-thru, the weaver mount blocked the first sight completely making these mounts no better than the ones I already had. I'm not a gun expert and haven't had too much exposure to a wide variety of scopes and mounts but I would be willing to bet that these ring mounts being see-thru isn't that great of a detail since the weaver mount would block the sights anyways. I would plan on buying separate rings for this scope. I bought, Leupold Rifleman Rf 3/8"" Detachable See-Thru Rm Matte 57323, to go with on my Dovetail mount. Another feature that doesn't seem all that great on this scope is the ruby finnish lens. Yea it looks cool, but is hardly practical. It would depend on what your wanting to do with this scope. If your hunting squirrel like me, it's not ideal. The ruby lens will be noticeable and might scare a few away. Also, since the lens is a ruby color it reflects back a lot of red light that comes into the scope, giving a slightly blue tint to the image you see, I don't see that being a big of a problem but it's not ideal. PROS: - Lens covers included - Matte black finnish is good for hunters that don't want the reflection of the sun to alert animals to their presence. - 3-9X magnification gives long and short range shots - cheap while maintaining quality CONS: - Ruby Lens is not ideal for hunters: reflective/distorts color - see thru weaver rings still won't allow you to see your iron sights RECOMMEND TO: I think this scope would be a good buy for anyone who can be satisfied with something less than professional grade equipment. It's not the perfect scope, but it gets the job done, and there's not another one out there that can beat a $28.00 price tag.

Terrible scope, Lowest quality, DO NOT BUY!
By Surfisher on Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2012
Have several NCStar FIXED Power scopes --- in the $40-50 range --- they have clear optics, hold Zero and perform satisfactory. Off of the box took it out on a sunny day to look at the green foliage and noticed that its optics were quite a darker shade --- it was like looking through a regular scope with sunglasses on. After installing it with the rings included, could not get it to center on target. At 30 feet it was shooting a foot low and a foot to the left. Used up many pellets adjusting it UP and to the Right, until height and windage knobs reached the end of turning --- it still shot about 6" low and about as much to the left. Exasperated took it off. Since my pellet gun came with a nice set of rings, so decided to try these instead of the once that came with the scope. SAME STORY --- at 30 feet it shoots 6" low and 6" to the left. So knew that this 3x9 variable power scope was junk!
