Sperry Top-Sider Men's Boat Shoe, Tan 10

I own two pairs of the leather/canvas Tarpon 2-Eye Boat Shoe.  Because they have 2-eyelets, they are true slip-ons. I stupidly thought that by not tying the laces too tight on a 3-eyelet show, or only using 2 eyelets instead of three, that these could be slip-ons.  Not so. Doing so converts the shoe to slip-offs. Next, the the laces are too short if you use all three eyelets.  Most people use what is known as the "Granny Knot" (a search would reveal that the name likely has its origins from being a common sack-tying knot in granaries). These knots frequently become undone. There isn't enough lace for a double knot. Perhaps the worst feature is that the lifespan of the shoe is the lifespan of the shoe laces. Why? The laces can't be replaced once one or both wear out. Laces eventually break if tied and untied with each wearing. Because the Tarpon is a slip-on, the laces need only be tied once. I decided to wear the 3-eye Billfish as a slip-on by only using 2 eyelets. Wish I could return it.
