Great Product

I have a smooth electric cook top & wanted something higher power for chinese stir fry. I read the reviews of this item & overall they were not stellar. I decided to take a chance & order it anyway, and I have been very pleased. My take away's are:- yes, it is short, but still workable even w/out putting on top of something else.- it went together with no problem - instructions were clear. All the proper pieces were present & fit well. It didn't exactly match the picture, but still works great.- the wok is great, it is not too flimsy, but it is thin gauge which helps with heat transfer. The diameter of mine was 17" vs. 18" advertised.- the btu output is super ... you cannot operate on full output as it gets too hot, but variable control works great. My advice to you if you buy this:- buy a stainless coil scrubbing pad. You'll need that to remove the initial coating on the wok - soap & water will take hours. This also works to clean the wok after use w/o removing the "seasoning".- You need to season the wok or it will rust. It wok comes with seasoning instructions ... I looked at the wok shop's on youtube & did that instead. The only issue if you coat with oil & put in your oven at 450F is that you get a fair amount of smoke ... I used a vacuum hose to my stove vent to get rid of it.- You'll need a lid if you want to steam fish/vegetables... I'm using one from another large pot I had.Overall wok & burner works great. The heat output is fantastic. I wouldn't hesitate to buy if you are interested in this type of item. I did see this same setup at Cabela's for 90 clams so this is a good deal.

Buy and Fix merchandise.

KIng Kooker wok cookerI received the product promptly. Assembly was simple. The generic shroud supports the burner which is the heaviest part of this cooker. It mounts with a tiny screw and nut below the burner center. There is no cutout in the shroud. The burner can not be mounted and held level because someone at the factory does not know how to perform a cutout on a flimsy sheet metal part. I realize this is not rocket science but seriously, does anyone in China assembles these designs? Not only must I cut a slot for the burner to sit level but I must also provide a support for the long cast iron burner. The farthest part of the burner will mount the LP hose. What supports all of this weight? I am tired of buying ChiCom products, just to fix them before use. Really. Is there a word for quality control in China? Since the generic shroud that has no cut out for the burner, i will need to notch the inexpensive sheet metal to allow the burner to sit level. I will need to also create a support to hold the heavy burner. Also the wok is very thin and has little rigidity. They should label all Chinese products as BUY and FIX merchandise. Not happy at all. But i did get it at a cheap price.
