A Great Workout at a Great Price
By RosieL on Reviewed in the United States on April 17, 2025
I've had this rower for over six months and use it several times a week. I bought it because I was a big fan of the hydro-rowers at the gym but can't afford the price tag nor the space for one of the 'fancier' machines that rowing snobs tout like the Concept 2. I chose this one because it uses more of a rowing motion rather than the typical pulling one you get on hydro rowers. The assembly was a little tricky but once i figured it out, was super easy , it just took a little patience. Once it was up and running, it took a little while to figure out which level to start at to give me a good workout but not feel like Sisyphus trying to push a rock up a hill. I have to say, for the price, this machine is great. I've never had any issues with the pedals nor the straps as I've read on other reviews. I just make sure I velcro my feet tight and am able to push with my legs with no issues. I did have an issue with one of the bolts coming out but that was my fault for not tightening it enough. I've also had to change the batteries in the display console once which was fine except I didn't realize I needed to until I was strapped in and ready to start rowing. It's great that you can reset each workout down to zero when you start but the machine maintains a running count of strokes up to 10K and then it resets. I bought this machine because I don't like going to the gym but I love rowing for exercise. This allows me to have the best of both worlds- getting to work out but doing so in the comfort of my own home. I highly recommend it if you're looking for a way to get a good full-body workout at your own pace but don't have the room/finances to get one of the fancier rowers. One piece of advice- invest in workout gloves; I tend to grip hard and found myself developing blisters under my middle finger but gloves solved that issue nicely.

Alright, but could use some improvments (initial impressions)

So far not too bad, but from my initial use of the rower I feel like there can be some improvements. For starters, assembly of the rower initially seemed complicated. However, the pieces are laid out in a way that made it intuitive to setup, so with a bit of focusing the setup is not too hard to do. The instructions are pretty good too. Other positives include how portable the machine is once assembled. It's large enough that a 6'2" person like me with long legs can fit on the rower, close to the edge but not bumping into it. But it's also light weight enough to move around where needed, which is nicer in comparison to more bulky rowers. The rower also performs well and the paddles are able to stretch out at a long distance. It's surprisingly quiet as well, only making a small puffing noise for each stroke. The only big issue I have is with the resistance levels. I feel like the highest resistance level doesn't feel like it's doing much. This could be an issue with my form, but in general it doesn't feel like I need to exhert much energy for the highest level of stroke resistence. I can still get an OK workout in, but because of the low resistance, I feel like it takes 30 minutes or more to get a real workout from this machine. And I don't consider myself a strong person either, I am at a normal BMI with no recent core / strength training. Traditional fan rowers seem to offer a lot more resistance in my opinion. The only other issue is with the foot petals, which seem to get a lot of flack on here. It feels a bit uncomfortable and seems to dig into your heels. They are also a pain to put on if you have big feet, to the point that I just plant my feet on top of the straps instead of fully strapping in. Overall this rower has a lot of potential, I just feel that it needs higher resistance levels in order to have a more full workout.
