This unit replaced the original one on my trailer, which is lighter and designed for a 17-foot, 285-pound lifeboat. The unit is easy to install and use. You would lubricate it each time you use it in salt water after a good wash down, especially in the guide that raises and lowers the trailer, or it will rust out like the original one did.

I wouldn’t recommend this product I’ve had it on my boat trailer for less than 2 months and it is already squeaking like crazy when using it. I’ve never launched my boat in salt water only fresh in my time since it’s been on my trailer. I also don’t have to back my boat up far enough for water to get into the trailer jack when launching I’m pretty disappointed in this product and wish I had just gone back with the harbor freight one i had on my trailer because there is no difference in quality and I’d say this one started making noise twice as fast.
