Regarded as one of the greatest catchers in baseball history, Lawrence Peter "Yogi" Berra played 18 seasons for the New York Yankees. During his illustrious career Berra helped the Yankees win 10 World Series titles and was voted into 18 All-Star Games. The three-time American League MVP has had his number 8 retired by the Yankees and he was inducted to Baseballs Hall of Fame in 1972. On October 8, 1956 Berra was behind the plate to catch the only perfect game in World Series history. Don Larsen retired all 27 batters he faced needing only 97 pitches to turn the trick. After the final out, Berra was so overcome with excitement that he jumped into Larsen's arms.
