I bet you’re one of those types who gets their weather from the TV, right? Well, not me, buddy. Oh, no. I wouldn’t trust one of those weathermen any further than I can kick him. (No, I don’t know how far I could kick a weatherman. But I would like to find out.) Buncha crooks, you ask me. Slimy. Scheming, that’s the word. Scheming. They all have that scheming look. Besides, what do I care if it’s 34 in Kirkdale and 31 in East Springwood? That doesn’t help me here in Valley Hills, does it?
And the news people never tell me what the temperature is in Valley Hills. Never. But my First Alert Wireless Weather Station does.
See, I just put the included remote transmitter out by that rusted-out barbecue pit I never use, and sit inside and let the weather station let me know what the temperature is. The numbers are nice and big, which I like when I lose my glasses. It doesn’t mess around with fancy egghead stuff like "barometric pressure" or "humidity" – hell, any idiot can look outside and see if it’s raining. The First Alert Wireless Weather Station is one more thing to distract me from the inevitable decline, one more source of trivia to dither over while my heart slowly chokes on the bile of a lifetime’s worth of bitterness.
