Stanley Lunch Containers

A lunch container conveys a certain elegance and class. It says, "Yes, this is my lunch, and yes I care enough about my food to give it a separate and dedicated container. What of it?" People will envy you and your lunch, but you'll have to step your game up. You can't just pull a bologna sandwich out of these bad boys.

Why would anyone sell a container without showing how it opens or the inside? Brilliant marketing!

You can get more views on
Bing. Unfortunately, Woot probably doesn't have these on hand for their photo department, so they are using the same stock photos from Stanley's website, with just this one view.

Is it paper thin? Is it a bucket? Who knows without a side view!

"lunch case" : lunch box :: "messenger bag" : man purse

Would these be any good for geocaches? Are they watertight? And how long before the stainless steel rusts or corrodes?

From Amazon review:

It is not water/air tight, the hinge in the back has some openings, small but would let liquids out or in.

These don't even look microwavable. I'll stick to my Japanese lunch boxes...

Pretty embarrassing revelation to someone on the woot staff I bet.

It's time for: Guess what's inside!

No product photos provided by Woot other than a stock exterior shot.

So, it's my guess that a bunch of Woot flying monkeys live inside with a mess of tangled ear buds and some Sigg bottle caps. And a single AC Delco battery.

The bottom of mine says,

    95 cu in / 1556 cc
    BPA-FREE
    DISHWASHER SAFE
    DO NOT MICROWAVE
    5-inside-triangle recycling symbol

among other things.

In (very!) practical terms, it'll just store four 7" tablets. And very sturdily.

Mine's sitting next to me with a Nexus 7, BlackBerry PlayBook (v 1.0), Kindle Fire (v 1.0), and Nook Tablet (v 1.0). Just for demonstration purposes, you understand.

There's about 1" of free space at the top and bottom of the tablets. The lid of the case is domed and the bottom partly so, so there's a tiny bit of side-to-side free play for the two tablets in the middle of the stack but not for the tablets on top and bottom.

The lid of the case is domed and the bottom partly so.

The pictures make them look flat, but the top is definitely domed, and the base is a flattened dome. So the inside walls aren't vertical.

The handle is on the left end as you look at the pictures. So you carry it vertically.

Let's see, what else? Ummm ... collect all five colors? :-)

EDIT

I don't think it matters, but my description applies to a previous woot item,
Woot also called this a "Stanley 10-01181-001 Nineteen13 Lunchcase."

The product number matches what Stanley calls
It looks to me like woot's

Stanley 10-01181-007 Nineteen13 Lunch Container - Stormtropper [sic]
and
    Stanley 10-01181-006 Nineteen13 Lunch Container - Blackhawk

are the same thing - same size and all - but different colors. And they match the Stanley site. So it all looks same-same.

This was very useful, thanks for sharing. My decision is made and it's: Sorry Woot! I would never use this... much less with unwrapped food.

I got one. I eat a Turkey on roll with a soda and a side, usually some crackers or Goldfish etc on most days at work. This will be the perfect size for that and will slip into my bag nicely with a pliable ice pack on the soda to keep it nice and cool.

May not be the biggest thing in the world, but for 10 bucks its the correct tool for the job in my case.

From Stanleys website: http://www.shopstanley-pmi.com/product/7172
Dimensions: 6" x 9" x 2½" - Only slightly bigger than half a sheet of paper. I'm thinking - meh. For $5 each (delivered) over at Newegg, maybe...

Yep. I don't need more than one, but it's a good size to fit into my backpack and not leave me carrying an extra lunch bag around. I ordered it last Friday, it got to me yesterday.

And another product video with more views...
http://vimeo.com/21140997

Camouflage? Seriously? Maybe 'foggy bathroom mirror' would have been a better color name?

Oh, wait, I get it! The bottom is mossy green, that way if you drop it while in the woods, and it lands upside down, you can't find it... not that you'd want your now-smushed-up lunch anyway.
