See, the anti-gunners aren't content to just try to ban firearms, they want to go all the way and ban all things that fire projectiles. Next up... air rifles. After that... air soft! After that... Rubber bands!

Have a look at the list of states wine can be shipped to. All the good things and life are slowly being legislated away.

The specs on this are funny to me.

Pellet Velocity Up to 1000 fps
Alloy Pellet Velocity Up to 1200 fps
Mechanism Break Barrel
Power Source Spring
Caliber .177

power source - spring. and pellet velocity - UP To. this is the funny part.

Being spring loaded and not a real air rifle - this up to means the very 1st time you shoot it will be the most power you will ever see out of it, every shot there after will be ever so slightly less. still though, nice job woot. can't sell gun but at least you will go to the furthest extreme you can. this would be good for a year or 3 of back yard target pinking I suppose. sept for the fact a person can go buy a better one from just about any feed store, pump action air rifle's are up this year at only about 25 bucks. I wonder where this 89 buck thing came from?

Watch out, folks... better not buy a gun of any form... Did you know that if you buy one and leave it out, it might just jump up and bite you like a poisonous snake? Oh yeah, guns have personalities of their own. They want to destroy everything. In fact, if you leave one on the kitchen table, loaded and ready to fire, there's a good possibility that it will aim itself at the owner and shoot the owner.

Oh wait, it takes a human being to shoot one of these things. It takes an irresponsible one to shoot a person unintentionally. And it takes someone with some real issues to shoot someone intentionally. To those who are against guns, I welcome you to your freedom of choice. I choose to be a responsible firearms owner. Respect my rights and I'll respect yours. Don't respect my rights, and well... I'll respect yours anyway. *shrugs*

Don't believe everything you see on the Internet... And while I can only recall 1 time a human was killed by a pellet gun, I can recall a significant number where the weapon was scissors used to stab someone to death... Does that mean we need to ban scissors and give up wrapping Christmas presents? And if you want to use that type of logic look at the number of deaths in the US from alcohol, it is more than double the number where a gun was involved - should we ban beer too?

This is a regular pain in the backside. In Scranton, 18505 among others, you can not own one of these. But the walmart in Taylor (the next city over with a several mile-long boarder between the two) sells pellet guns, as does the one in Dunmore, another neighboring town.

I think is a CYA move, to be honest. So don't blame Woot for this. This is the result of Loco in the Cocoic local laws. It's perfectly legal for me to buy a full auto 50 cal gun from a store in Scranton (with proper tax stamp, of course), but god forbid a single-shot pellet gun!

Good message although very wrong on velocity. These are subsonic, ie no crack. Loadings will vary but generally on an AR or any rifle in general you are talking closer to 2k+ FPS.

Handguns have closer to that speed albeit with a significantly heavier bullet so more energy.

[MOD: Removed text.] Some of the highest quality air rifles made are spring air.. Not THIS one of course, but the technology is sound.

My Gamo's have been shot literally thousands of times, and still chrono over 1000fps.

Try a Feinwerkbau, they too are spring air.

Spring airs have to "break in" for their accuracy and fps to settle in, but then provide many many hours of consistent shooting

So don't go crapping on this rifle, just because it's spring air....

prosperouscheat wrote:How's this compare to the Gamo Varmint Hunter that's been on woot before?

Both are "springers" with synthetic stocks but the Gamo was $40 more. It had a similar scope but had a laser sight mounted on the scope and a flashlight mount. Both have similar FPS velocity using same ammo. See earlier Woot you mentioned: http://moofi.woot.com/offers/gamo-varmint-hunter-pellet-gun

After spending some time researching the TR77, I've concluded that it is an accurate AR according to those more knowledgeable than myself. And not a Toy by any means.

There's misleading specs about it having an adjustable rear sight and a optical front sight. Clearly there is no front barrel sight in the pics. There are also comments about potentially replacing the trigger assy with a mod'ed trigger with less trigger pressure required. Some mentioned mod'ing with front and rear sights. Some had upgraded the scope although most AR in this price range come with the 4x32mm scopes.

Also found one site offering a NP (Nitro Piston) version for around $150,but no mention of that model on the Crosman site. http://www.airgunwarehouseinc.com/py-2869.html

Cheapest price found was a 2-day Black Friday sale at DSG for $10 less than today's Woot offering.

After doing the research, I pulled the "trigger" and got one.

And to those concerned. This is a single shot pellet rifle, not an AK47 with banana clips.

[MOD: Checked with the buyer and he agrees on the sights. They've been removed from the features. Thanks!]

Tell us where and which store sells an AR with a +1000fps muzzle velocity for less than this Woot offering. Savvy consumers want to know. You must be talking about the old Daisy pumps with sub 400fps velocity. It's the moving piston that provides the air movement.

Great product Woot! You should sell more things like these, regardless of what the Chicken Little's have to say.

As long as you don't sell "crazy pills" that make the person take a tool (any tool) and kill people, intelligent people will know and understand that you are not contributing to ANY form of violence.

I'm personally glad you are intelligent enough as a company to understand that. Now don't you wish all of your customers were?

Also doesn't all that terrible music contribute to all the violence in teen America? Woot sells a ton of stereos, MP3 players, speakers.

I remember sitting in my buddy's tree house with a whole row of action figures lined up way down on the ground. Pump that bad boy up until you couldn't anymore and then watch the BB fly off course, knowing you full well missed and would have to be pumping all over again.

Half! (in two decades) Really... I'd love to read your sources. How are you defining "violence" and what are the geographical boundaries your statistic is supposed to be referencing? You seem like a nice person, but please give more details for such an outrageous comment... Or just don't wrote it. I don't believe it.
You, and the other commentator, should be more careful in your wording about violent video games (and the propensity for their players to commit violent acts). I haven't done much research on violent music or movies, but the jury is still out on video games! It's been a big topic of interest for me for quite some time... Unbiased (or as close as you can get) research will reveal that there is a slight favor to the argument that at least temporary increased aggression occurs after violent (first person shooter genre) video game play.
Anyway, your probably a great person, but where did 50% come from?

Spring-powered rifles are cool and all. (I have one that I really like), but the real hotness are Nitro pistons.

They work just like springs as single shot, and break barrel cocking, however they have:

Smoother cocking
Smoother shooting
No spring torque
No spring fatigue, even if you leave it cocked for hours
Functions perfectly in cold weather
Lasts longer than a metal spring

Check out this Nitro for $114

True story. I've been playing bloody video games, watching slasher movies, and listening to heavy metal for as long as I can remember and I've never killed anyone. I've never even been in a fight. Violence has more to do with a social upbringing IMO. Social influence, peer pressure and pride (which you get from influence and peer pressure) are the recipe for violence.
