Poll: Who’s your favorite active sportscaster?
  • 12% - Vin Scully 95
  • 12.1% - Marv Albert (except for all the…you know…) 96
  • 40.9% - Bob Costas 324
  • 11.3% - Joe Buck 90
  • 23.7% - Another one I’ll defend vehemently in the comments. 188

Well, how do you fare compared to the Zeitgeist? Chat up your fellow wooters and let us know how lame this poll was or what obvious choices we missed. For example: Was this poll a) STUPID, b) DUMB, c) POINTLESS or d) ALL OF THE ABOVE?

Glad to see Costas getting so much love. The voice of a god, the body of a Keebler elf.

He's amazingly off-the-cuff funny as well. Most sportscasters don't know how to balance humor and information as well as him.

Most fun to listen/see to on TV has to be David Feherty! On serious sporting issues, gotta love Jeremy Schaap.

Mickey Redman. Broadcaster for the Detroit Red Wings. Old hockey player that says it like it is even if his team is in the wrong. Plus some of the stuff he says is just to funny becasue I makes no sence.

Also have to give props to Don Cherry.

Just remember to keep your stick on the ice kids.

I admit, I am a goober for this. I grew up with Dan Marino, a major influence in my formative years. I am tempted to say that he is my favorite, as he was also inducted into the hall of fame on my birthday; however, when Charles Barkley starts talking, it is always entertaining. I am torn.

Somebody help me decide. Good guy Dan "The Man" Marino, or pseudo bad boy/comedian Sir Charles Barkley.

I'm a big fan of Kevin Harlan. He's good on TNT calling NBA games, but he was awesome as the Timberwolves' radio play-by-play guy for years...especially the early years when they were getting beaten by 20 pts. every night.

Marty Brennaman was fairly good 30 years ago. Unless you are a Reds fan and enjoy homerism to the point where you don't even care if the action he is describing doesn't even remotely resemble reality, he un-listenable now.

It is completely unconscionable to not have Bob Uecker as one of the options, especially if you're going to list a hack like Joe Buck.

I wanted a "none of the above" option. To me, the best sportscasters are the ones I don't even notice. They only stand out to me when they're bad--so annoying that they get in the way of me watching the game.

This is an interesting change in disappointments.

Like heck Bob Eucker is retired!!He is the current...CURRENT...voice of the Milwaukee Brewers Radio Network. And has been for over 30 years. National sports fans embarrass themselves every time they try to voice an opinion on any Midwestern sports topic. Shameful.
