My vote for worst sportscaster: Madden!

well, that was entertaining.

This poll made me want to listen to The Dead Kennedys "Holiday in Cambodia".

It's funny how one of the most revered sportscasters in history (Jack) would produce a son who only inspires vitriol.

I can't believe the whole pol pot sportscasting discussion even still exists. Clearly, he lacked the gravitas and in-depth sports knowledge that so many non-totalitarian, non-brutal, non-dictators command. He had no business behind the mic.

Dennis Miller. Most people have successfully suppressed the memory, but he was probably the worst Monday Night color commentator in history. Mostly just spouted the canned color jargon ABC's had their writers prepare and force-fed him, sprinkled with references to Kafka. This is American football, people, not Grad school at a liberal arts college.

I don't blame Dennis; ABC waved a giant wad of cash at him; what would you do?

Phil Simms! We have to listen to that wishbone blowhard nearly every week. Collinsworth and Buck are wishbones, sure, but they don't have the massive ego Sims has, and Sims is every bit as stupid.

You people who said Chris Collinsworth and Brent Musburger are crazy. They are two of the best, along with my favorite, D"ck Stockton. The two worst are Joe Boring Buck and Captain Obvious himself, Tim McCarver. Bryant Gumble runs a close race for being the worst also. He had the excitement level of a microwaved turd. Plus, he didn't know some of the simple rules to the game.

My RadioSHARK was a lifesaver, TV sound off local radio with audio delay ON. The local announcers 100% better.

I liked a guy that back in the 90's did sports for HLN named Van Earl Wright (it's been awhile so I'm not 100% sure of his exact name). I've often wondered what happened to him. Currently I like a local guy (Orlando channel 6) named Ping.

I don't understand the vitriol for Joe Buck. If there was anyone in the history of announcing that *should* elicit ambivalence, it should be Joe Buck

Cris Collinsworth is one of the best. His voice is sort of goofy, but its a case of substance over style.

John Grudden... the guy was a good coach, but horribad sportscaster. Not to mention how much he may as well be on his knees in front of Rodgers, Brees, Mannings, or any half way decent QB when they are playing.

This was my take. In a world that still has Tim McCarver (and the absolute worst sportscaster ever, Bill Walton) we all need to lay off of Joe Buck a bit.

Oh, please. What is it with this country and Joe Buck? He does fine. At least he's watched football before yesterday. Sure, there's a bit of arrogance, but that I can handle. I want them to sound like they know something, otherwise, what's the point of listening to them at all?

Some of these hacks can't even follow the game they are 'casting. They get things wrong that are patently simple, like not knowing what a False Start is. Where's the hate for them? I unplug my center speaker for some, kills caster voices beautifully if the sound guys have done their job with the Dolby. Couldn't even tell you their names, I try not to know.
