Well, I guess if this is a scam, and you're really unethical, you could buy 3 and sell them for a profit on eBay (runs for cover, uses wristband's powers to protect self from the flying bullets and tomatoes)....

The only use I can think of is if you like how it looks, but the "ooooh, shiny!" jokes come to mind,...

There's a reason I purposely didn't post anything on this one until now, and commented on 5 other woots tonight....

Let's give Woot the benefit of the doubt. Maybe the fine print says something about free psychiatric consult with purchase. Or maybe Woot is being kind and every person who buys one is banned from Woot going forward, thus saving them from themselves.

OK woot... I originally wanted to make a joke about wanting to wait for a refurbished unit before I shell out full price... How can people say these things don't work when all the Woot poster's blood pressure and heart rates are up and they are pounding the keyboard getting a great workout. I am embarrassed to say, we sell these at RadioShack. So I was looking at them one day to see what they were and read the back: basically what it said is that it is supposed to improve balance and make you have more energy. Then I looked to see what it was and realized that it was just a little band of silicon. I almost started rofloling.
But I suppose it makes sense. You give someone fake beer they think is real, they'll act drunk. Give someone one of these, they'll think they have better balance and more energy.

I have never been more saddened and depressed that my state is color coded "lots of wooters wooting". I may have to move in case the stupid is catching.

This is a huge fail for woot as far as I'm concerned. This fraud is clearly documented, if you want to see how they do their demonstrations in the mall it's all over youtube how they teach those people to fool you.

Just because people are willing to buy snake oil doesn't mean it's ethically okay to sell it to them. Taking advantage of the ignorant and mentally disadvantaged is reprehensible.

Ok, one last set of comments.
Woot's buyer probably didn't know better, bought the stuff. Now the decision is whether to eat the cost or not. They didn't.

Thunder Thighs as usual, is caught in the cross fire, and is in a no-win situation. Her attempts to pacify are her job, not necessarily how she truly feels, but it's awkward.

Remember y'all, this is a business, so I'm disappointed but not shocked. Frankly, if they want to make up for this, how about selling some leak frogs right now in place of these? It's not like they've never "sold out" of something and put a new product up (as in last week) before 24 hours are up.

I use to sell these things.

I wore one because it was free and it was awkward when I tried to tell someone they would benefit so much from it and they just turn around and ask "Well, where's yours then?!"

We did the balance test for customers and of course knowing the tricks, they fell for it easy. The balance test works the same in reverse as well (we dumb engineering students tried it as a "hysteresis test"), i.e. give them the item, perform the test, take away the item, perform test again, a lo and behold their balance/flexibility increased WITHOUT the item. WOWIE!

Now I have been free of the wristband for 2 years as I no longer have to sell knick-knacks and am making a comfortable living raping the environment.

I figure these will go straight from this Woot to being a perpetual addition to those Barnacles Of Creativity.

My step son got one of these and swore it worked, he had great balance and strength and couldn't fall over. So I shoulder checked him and he fell on his arse. He threw it into the trash.
