Does anyone really have a use for a second-hand tachymeter? You're measuring revolutions/cycles per hour with that...so beyond verifying your car's speedometer what possible use is it?

The watch weighs a friggen POUND?! Either that or someone forgot to put a decimal in the right place. 1.6 ounces I could believe. ;-)

perhaps these are presented in Sport for a different reason... at 1 lb apiece, these monsters will give you quite the workout. O, a pound doesn't seem like much now, but try taping a brick of butter to your arm and see how happy you are after a few hours.
I thought not. and the butter melts, dripping down into your pants - or wherever you put your hands, and over time (see? there it is again), become lighter..but these watches won't melt, nossir, not unless they were designed by Salvador Allende (haha, thought you knew what was coming, but no, I never met a 4 I couldn't confuse).
hey wootland...didja miss me? well, I'm back!

(or perhaps that 16 oz weight is just the package... hey, I'm not the one on the hook here...)

That watch reads 10 o'clock which means time for bed.

Night all.

Sadly, if anyone else is wondering, the bezel on the T2N697 does not rotate according to the Timex website :-( I find that a very useful feature on other watches I own. It is still a nice looking watch

These all have the indiglo light, correct? I need a new watch since the Swiss Army POS given to me as a gift would cost more to repair than is useful. Having had a timex with indiglo when they first came out, I find the light available on the classic analog a nice bonus. Only the Weekender actually mentions the indiglo but from looking at the images and looking up the models it looks like they all have it.

Indiglo is labeled on all of their faces; if that's what you're inferring from, I'd think so as well, else the products pictured are not the ones for sale.

People who find it uncivilised to casually flip open a cell-phone, like some spoiled brat masticating a wad of chewing-gum. A gentleman or lady discretely observes the wrist, and more formally produces a pocket-watch, with equal discretion.

Yep, they all have it. It's mentioned in all but the Army Green. Looks like it was accidentally omitted from the features on that one. I've sent it in for updating.

From looking at the pictures I thought there were 8 models, half of them with strange green faces. But the model numbers for the black faces and green faces were the same.

I was sorta confused there for a minute. Or two. Or maybe three ... I'm not sure because I'm not wearing a watch.

Whoaaa! I could seriously buy a watch ... right here, right now!!!

The people who realize how damn easy it is to swipe someone's phone after asking, "What time is it?"

Plus, a watch is ALWAYS more stylish than any phone 98% of the time.

The description on the T2N697 doesn't match the picture. Does it have an army green band (as the description says) or a brown one (like the picture)?

I like it and if I hadn't just gotten an Ironman off a Deals deal I would be in for one (the band on my old Timex broke and these days it is just easier to get a new watch).

Big fan of Timex, they really do just keep on ticking.

As another poster mentioned, it's greenish.

If you google other pictures, you'll see a wide variety in the color depicted in the photos.

I'm guessing our photographer used a flash and that washed out a bit of the color.

I really need a new watch, but I need one I can wear in the shower and the pool. I need something with a metal band, not leather.

I agree- theAmazon Woot is so wasteful when it comes to packaging. I bought 5 sets of charms for a charm bracelet- EACH 2" tin was packed in a 6x8x6 box separately. What a waste of cardboard and postage.

3 pairs Tiny youth soccer shorts were separately packaged in a 12x12x6 Boxes. Those could easily go in an envelope.

Waste.

It's a dark army green band.

Think of the old, plastic army men kids used to play with, darken it a little bit, and then you have it.

It isn't a tachOmeter, it's a tachYmeter. It is used for measuring speed in miles per hour. It's handy for calculating the speed of cars, motorcycles, or other things at a race. That's what I use mine for.

I like watches, both inexpensive like these and not-quite-inexpensive along the lines of a Tag or Breightling.

I'm in for two.
At this price, I can afford to wear it as an everyday watch and won't get upset if it gets banged up or scratched.
And it's also partial nostalgia...I really liked my first Indiglo from way back when. They really are nice in darker environments. And much more subtle than lighting the place up with a cell phone.

In other news...I see another Dyson DC25 as the primary woot. Already?? When are y'all gonna make it official and simply create DysonRoomba.woot.com or more simply vacuum.woot.com? It's the double-U isn't it? Too tricky for most people, so why bother confusing the masses, right?

I've been collecting watches for over a decade and this is the common attitude for the old guy watch collectors. What you and they don't realize is the bias developed from growing up with a watch as your only option to tell tell (other than a pocket watch). What's different know is that there is another option, i.e. the cell phone, that makes carrying a watch redundant.

Watches are now two things: (1) the only real acceptable piece of jewelry that guys can wear and (2) a signal for some level of wealth, i.e. buy a TAG/Omega/Rolex as your first real watch and a sign of success or having made it. Then you later graduate to a Patek, Blancpain, AP, Hublot, etc.

And while you look down your nose at those who chose to not wear watches, I imagine the pocket watch carrying guys were poo-pooing the wristwatch wearing people in the same manner, too.

does the T2N636 come with a green window as in the main picture on woot or with a black one as it shows on the woot preview order/amazon site?

first2summit

quality posts: 4 Private Messages first2summit

I like these watches though my only complaint is the dimensions - for a 40mm watch, it should really have a 20mm strap instead of an 18mm one. The 18mm strap looks too skinny for a watch head that big.

Whelp I'm in for one. I'm hoping it lasts a while. If not I'm going to find a band for my original timex with indiglo and put a new battery on it. Still want to club the person at Swiss/Victorinox who thought charging $100 for a replacement band was acceptable. If the band hadn't shaken apart at a concert due to crappy pin retention I wouldn't need a replacement. *mutters*

The pictures with the "green" faces are just picture of the top 4 watches when the INDIGLO is on.
